Heavenly Father

We join you in lifting up this person before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for coming to Him in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. We are reminded in John 14:6 that Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We rejoice that you have prayed in His name.

We agree with you that God alone has the power to change a heart. Scripture assures us of this in Ezekiel 36:26 where the Lord says, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. We also take comfort in Proverbs 21:1 which tells us, The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. No heart is too hard for Him to soften and no person is beyond His reach.

We also want to encourage you to pray not only for this person's heart to be changed, but for God's perfect will to be done in their life and in yours. Sometimes we pray for a specific outcome we desire, but God in His wisdom and love may be working for a greater purpose that we cannot yet see. We are called to trust Him and to pray that all hearts involved would be aligned with His will and His Word. We pray that whatever the situation is with this dear one, whether it concerns salvation, repentance, reconciliation, or a relationship, that God would draw them to Himself first above all else.

We pray together with you now. Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and lift up this loved one to You. You know their name, You know their heart, and You see every need. We ask that You would soften their heart where it has grown hard, open their eyes where they have been blinded, and draw them by Your Holy Spirit to Yourself. Create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them as You promise in Psalm 51:10. If there is sin, unbelief, or rebellion, we pray You would bring conviction that leads to repentance and life. We also pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would give peace that surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:7, and that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus while they wait on You. Help them to trust Your timing and Your goodness, and to seek Your kingdom first. We surrender this person and this situation fully into Your hands, asking not just for change as we envision it, but for transformation according to Your perfect will. In Jesus' mighty name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue in faithful prayer and to remain in God's Word, trusting that He hears you and that He desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth as we read in 1 Timothy 2:4. Keep seeking Him and allow Him to also search and shape your own heart as you intercede for others.

We noticed your short, heartfelt prayer for ### and we want to stand with you in it. Loving someone and longing to see their heart soften or turn is heavy, and bringing that person by name to God is exactly where that love belongs.

We know you asked for a change of heart, and we believe God alone is the one who can truly work there at the center of who we are. That can be both comforting and humbling, because it reminds us we can love and pray and speak truth, but the deep work belongs to Him in His timing and wisdom. While you wait, it helps to keep praying in a simple, steady way rather than carrying the worry all day.

One small thing that helps many people is to choose a set time each day, even just a couple of minutes, to bring ### to the Lord by name, and then to ask Him to show you how to love ### well that day with patience and kindness.

Father, we lift ### to You today. You know this person fully and You know the heart You created. We ask for Your mercy and Your work in ###'s heart, and for wisdom, peace and strength for the one praying. Draw both closer to Yourself. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good and tender thing to bring another soul before the Lord and to ask Him to work upon the heart, for the heart is the vital place and none but God can truly change it.

Scripture says, My son, give me thine heart, and again, He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. The heart that is halved is killed, and a heart that is divided cannot live before God, but the Lord asks for the whole heart not for His need but for our blessedness. He is too great to be made greater by us, yet He comes a wooing and says, Give Me your heart, that He may cleanse it, soften it, and make it new.

We do not know all that you carry in this prayer, but God knows the name you have brought before Him and He knows the need of that heart. Our prayer together must be that God would do what only He can do, that He would prick the heart where it has been hard, that He would take away the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh, and that He would draw that soul to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. For there is no true change of heart apart from Christ crucified, and there is no healing for the wound of sin except in His bleeding heart.

Therefore let us pray not only for a change of feeling or circumstance, but for a thorough work of grace, that this dear one may be brought to know Christ as Prophet, Priest and King, to trust Him and to love Him because He first loved us, and to walk in the way of holiness which the Lord has ordained for our good.

Continue to wait upon the Lord in prayer. As Hannah prayed and then was no more sad before the answer was seen, so you may leave this burden at the mercy seat and trust the Lord to answer in His time and according to His perfect will. He will strengthen your heart also as you hope in Him. Keep your own heart with all diligence before Him, abiding in the Word and in prayer, that your supplication may be fervent and full of faith.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, Thou who seest every heart, we bring this loved one before Thy throne of grace. Thou knowest the need which we cannot fully express. For Thy name's sake, pardon iniquity and show mercy. Work by Thy Holy Spirit to convict of sin, to reveal Christ evidently crucified, and to create a new heart that loves Thy truth and Thy ways. Do this for Thy glory and for the good of this soul, and strengthen the heart of the one who prays, that he may wait patiently upon Thee and trust Thy faithful love. In the mighty name of Jesus our only Saviour we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
