Beloved of All
Your prayer for protection over your home has been heard and brought before the Lord. It is distressing to feel unsafe where you should feel at peace, and God invites you to bring that fear directly to Him through Jesus Christ.
Scripture is clear that both angels and evil spirits are real. There are holy angels who are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation, and Jesus spoke of angels who watch over His own. There are also fallen spirits under Satan who oppose God. The Gospels, especially Mark, emphasize again and again the authority of Jesus over unclean spirits. When He commanded them, they obeyed, often crying out as they left, and they even begged Him not to send them into the deep place of confinement before the appointed time. That place, described in Revelation as a shaft or bottomless pit, is where God confines many of those spirits until His judgment. They are not free to do as they please but remain under His control.
Those spirits by nature seek to inhabit and control, and without a body they are restless, wandering through dry places seeking a home. When they do take hold of a person they bring torment and destruction, because their purpose is always evil. Yet the Lord Jesus has shown Himself stronger. He bore our sicknesses and infirmities as Isaiah foretold, He cast out spirits with a word, and He gave His disciples authority in His name to do the same. When the disciples returned rejoicing that spirits were subject to them, Jesus directed their joy to something greater, that their names were written in the book of life. Our confidence is not in counting angels or in focusing on demons, but in belonging to Christ and being sealed as His.
Because they are spirit beings, no physical barrier can keep them out. You cannot hide in a basement or close a door and be safe from them by that alone. But God Himself makes a separation. In Revelation, those who have the seal of God are distinguished from those who do not. If you are in Christ, you are sealed by His Spirit, and you can trust His care rather than living in fear of being watched or monitored. The Bible does not teach us to pray for a specific number of angels as if God were to be directed by us, but it does teach us to ask our Father, who in His wisdom sends the help He knows we need, and to rest in the authority we have as His children to resist the powers of darkness in the name of Jesus. What we bind on earth in prayer according to His will is upheld in heaven.
I have prayed for you that God would guard your home and fill it with His peace, that any evil influence would be driven out by the power of Jesus, that fear would be replaced with faith, and that you would know the protection that comes from walking closely with Him. Ask the Lord to show you if there is anything in your life or home that should be turned away from and repented of, and to help you fill your home with His Word, prayer, and worship. Stay rooted in Scripture, pray steadily in the name of Jesus, and if the heaviness continues, seek the help of mature believers who can pray with you in person and walk with you.
May the Lord grant you rest in your home, keep you in His care, and fix your heart more and more on Jesus, in whose name alone there is salvation and true deliverance.
