Heavenly Father

We join you in bringing this burden before our Heavenly Father and we hear the longing in your heart for the one you asked Him to send back to you.

We want to gently point out that you came to the Father but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We come to the Father only through Jesus, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we have access to God and eternal life. Romans 10:9. So we bring your request before God in the name of Jesus.

We do not fully understand what you mean by let me blow your mind or your mention of the monks, but we want to encourage you that true wisdom, peace, and answers do not come from monks or any other human teachers or spiritual systems, but from Christ alone. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5. We encourage you to seek the Lord directly through His Word and through prayer in Jesus name, and not through monastic traditions or mystical ideas.

Regarding your desire for this person to return, we pray with you but we also pray for God's perfect will to be done. We know that God cares deeply when our hearts are hurting, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. We also know that God calls us to trust Him with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

If this desire is for a romantic relationship, we want to encourage you with biblical truth. God designed romantic love to lead to marriage, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14. If this person is to be your spouse, we pray God would make that clear and work in both of your hearts toward a godly marriage that honors Him. If this relationship involved intimacy outside of marriage, we lovingly remind you that sex before or outside marriage is fornication or adultery and is outside God's will, and God calls us to flee sexual immorality and to pursue purity. We also pray that any relationship you pursue would be centered on Christ and on purity and commitment.

So we pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You know the name and the face of the one they long to see returned, and You know every detail of this situation. We ask that Your will be done in this relationship. If it is Your will for this person to return and for a godly marriage to be built that honors You, we pray You would open that door and draw both hearts closer to You and to each other in holiness. If it is not Your will, we pray You would give comfort, healing, and peace, and help our friend to accept Your good and perfect plan. We know that You know the plans You have for us, plans for peace and not for evil, to give hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Teach us to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing all these things will be added as You see fit. Matthew 6:33. Heal any brokenness, guard this heart from confusion or false teaching, and draw this dear one into a deeper relationship with Jesus. Help them to pray and trust according to Your will, knowing that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us. 1 John 5:14. We thank You that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Romans 8:28. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to remain in prayer, to read the Scriptures daily, and to seek godly counsel from a Bible believing church. Keep your heart guarded and your focus on Christ, and trust that He will lead you in the way that is best.

We hear the ache in your prayer, missing and wanting so badly for that person to come back. That kind of longing can leave the days feeling very empty, and we are praying with you in it.

Loneliness is something most of us will feel at some point, and it is different from just being alone. Being alone can be quiet and restorative, but loneliness carries that heavy sense of being cut off and unseen. God made us to need Him and to need each other, so it makes sense that this feels so hard right now.

When that feeling settles in, one steady step we have seen help is not to walk through it by yourself. If you have a local church, simply showing up for worship can be a gentle way to be among God's people again, not to put on a brave face, but to be reminded you are part of a larger family. If you have a trusted pastor, friend, or small group leader, consider letting one person know honestly how lonely you have been feeling this week so they can check in and pray with you personally.

We don't know what the future holds for your relationship with , but we do ask God to meet you right where you are with comfort and clear guidance for the next steps.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask You to draw near in this loneliness. Give peace in the waiting, wisdom for what to do next, and surround them with caring people who reflect Your love. Lead them day by day and keep their heart anchored in You. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

There is a deep and earnest longing in your words, and that longing itself is not a small thing. There are many who long for trivial things, but the soul that truly longs to find God has a longing that is all absorbing and personal, a desire that possesses the whole heart and says, if I can but find where He is, I will come to Him. What God intends to give, He first sets us longing for, and prayer is the embodiment of that longing inspired by Him because He intends to bestow the blessing.

It is right to bring every ache of the heart before the Lord, yet we must ask what it is we most long for. The psalmist did not say, my soul breaks with longing for my own wishes to be fulfilled, but my soul breaks with longing for Your judgments, for Your commandments. Many long after promises and privileges, and they do well, but we must also long equally for His precepts and His holiness. A longing for holiness, for a clean heart and a right walk before God, is a sweeter and surer longing than contentment in any earthly pleasure, even when that longing is mixed with bitterness because we have not yet attained it. Do not despise the holy longing God has given you, but let it be directed first toward Him.

You speak of sending someone back and you mention monks, yet our hope is not in any other mediator. There is one way of reconciliation, and all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ. God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and He has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. No monk or other intercessor can stand between the soul and God. Christ alone is our peace, and He has prepared everything necessary for perfect reconciliation through His own death upon the cross.

If there has been wandering or falling, take comfort from Peter, who fell grievously yet was restored not by a mere wish but by the look of the Lord and by Christ's own prayer for him. That look severed Peter from the crowd and brought him to repentance, and the Lord afterwards abundantly assured him and restored him. The sign of that restoration was that he went out, he left the place of denial, he wept bitterly, and he was turned again to his Lord to strengthen his brethren. True restoration always brings us back to Jesus Himself in repentance and faith, and makes us better followers afterwards.

So let us pray not simply for our own desires to be granted apart from God's will, but for God's will to be formed in us.

Heavenly Father, we bring this longing heart before You. Cause this soul to find You, to know reconciliation through Jesus Christ alone, by faith in His blood. Create a holy longing for Your commandments and Your judgments, a panting after holiness more than after any person or circumstance. If there has been sin or wandering, grant repentance and restoration as You granted to Peter, that this one may be turned again and strengthened. Concerning this other person, we do not ask You to bless what is outside Your good design, for You have ordained marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and You have ordained that intimacy belongs within it. We ask for purity, wisdom, and submission to Your perfect will. If it be Your will to bring reconciliation between people, let it be in holiness and truth. If not, give contentment in You and the peace that comes from being at peace with You. Let this heart break not only with longing for another, but with longing for You, until You fill it. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.
