Heart aorte surgery done, patient in coma

Servant of All
Please continue to pray for ###'s brother. He is in coma after surgery (which is normal for that kind of surgery - heart aorte). Please pray that he will totaly heal and change his lifestyle wherever its needed. Healthy eating, sleeping and walking/exercising habits. Repentence and forgiving to people or for himself if its needed. He is cca ###-### SALVATION of Jesus Christ.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up ’s brother in earnest prayer. Father God, You are the Great Physician, the One who knits together our bodies and breathes life into our lungs. We ask You to stretch forth Your healing hand over him now. The Word declares in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." Lord, we claim this promise over his life, restore every cell, every fiber of his being, that he may awaken fully healed, with no lasting damage from this surgery.

We also lift up his soul before You, for true healing encompasses more than the physical. If he has not yet surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, we pray that even in this unconscious state, Your Spirit would move upon his heart. Romans 10:9 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Lord, draw him to Yourself, that he may know the salvation that comes only through faith in Your Son. If he is already a believer, we ask that this trial would deepen his trust in You and refine his walk with You.

Father, we also pray for a transformation in his lifestyle. Surgery often serves as a wake-up call, and we ask that You would use this time to speak to his heart about the choices he makes, his diet, his rest, his activity. Proverbs 3:7-8 says, "Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones." May he embrace habits that honor You and steward his body as Your temple.

We also lift up any areas of unforgiveness, whether toward others or himself. Bitterness and guilt can weigh heavily on the heart and even affect recovery. Colossians 3:13 urges us, "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do." Lord, soften his heart to release any resentment or shame, that he may walk in the freedom of Your forgiveness.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or despair that may be lingering over this situation. 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We stand on this truth, trusting that You are working all things together for good, even when we cannot see it.

Lastly, we pray for and the family. Strengthen them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and fill them with hope as they wait. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author of life and the One who holds all things together. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. Amen.

We are holding your brother, and you, close in prayer right now. The waiting after a surgery like this is so heavy. It is okay to simply sit in it and not have tidy words. What you have asked for him is wise and tender: healing that goes deeper than the aorta, reaching into the habits and hidden places of his life. We are asking for that too.

One steadying thing you can do in these quiet days is simply be present when you are allowed at his bedside. Even in a coma, a familiar voice speaking calm, gentle truth can be a grounding anchor. You do not need to say much. Just letting him know he is not alone, that he is loved, and that God’s mercy is here can be a lifeline.

When you pray aloud near him, keep it simple. Thank God for the life still in him. Ask for his body to rest and repair. And if the deeper things you mentioned, repentance, forgiveness, a turn toward Christ, are on your heart, name them honestly. God is not put off by an unpolished prayer whispered in a hospital room.

We are praying with you now:

Lord Jesus, you hold every heartbeat in your hands. Watch over this brother in the stillness of his coma. Bring complete healing to his body and restore every system that needs repair. In time, we ask you to reshape his daily life, his eating, his sleep, his strength, and to do an even deeper work of renewal in his spirit. Where forgiveness is needed, grant it. Where repentance is needed, lead him to it with gentleness. And above all, draw him into the full safety of your salvation. We entrust him entirely to your mercy. Amen.

The judgments of God in and of themselves can never work evangelical repentance in a single human heart. Terror may produce a carnal repentance, a repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of the sinful nature of men, but “law and terrors do but harden, all the while they work alone; it is a sense of blood-bought pardon that dissolves the heart of stone.” Beware, then, of a repentance which springs alone from this brush with death, comes up in a night and withers in a night, appears and promises but promises only to delude. Such a repentance is superficial. It only affects the surface of the man. It does not go to the heart; it is hardly more than skin deep.

The repentance that ejects sin as an evil tenant, and the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart, this is the repentance that bringeth us salvation. We must not undervalue it. It is a blessed grace of God the Holy Spirit, and is absolutely necessary. Yet there is not any eminent degree of repentance necessary to salvation. The least repentance will save the soul if it is sincere. But mark you, it must be unto life, a repentance that leads you to look out of self to Christ, and to Christ only. Christ was nailed to the cross for sin; that is the repentance which glorifies God. Because evil is so hateful to the heart of Jesus we loathe it intensely. The Lord grant such repentance to this dear brother, even upon what appears to be his deathbed, for the text is clear: “The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” The least thing about Christ is healing. If a leaf from the Tree of Life drifts down and touches his spirit, it brings healing to heart and conscience. Do not think his condition is too extreme; a word of His, recognized as His, coming home to the heart as His, is a medicine fitted to raise the dead!

We are to tell sinners that God gives repentance, that it is one of the free gifts of His Grace. You are not to seek to draw up repentance from the depths of your own heart, as you might draw up water from a well, but to ask Christ to work repentance in him by His Holy Spirit. Even in that sterile heart which had never been previously softened, the Spirit can produce it. And wherever there is real repentance, it is the sure and infallible token of the pardon of sin. If any man’s heart is turned away from sin, the work of salvation has been already begun in his soul.

Therefore, let the cry go up, not for a mere reformation of habits, healthy eating, sleeping, and walking are good, but they are leaves without healing unless they flow from the root. The command is plain: the way of salvation is to believe on Christ. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. “Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed.” If he can but look out from that coma-threatened life to the finished work of Jesus Christ upon Calvary’s bloody tree, he shall live. Nothing is to be trusted to but that. To be blind of heart is our sin, but to be made to see is the gift of Grace! Our misery is our own work, but our salvation is of the Lord! I pray that even now the Holy Spirit would enlighten his understanding, influence his affections, and produce that “repentance unto life” which is the act of salvation of the soul. Then shall it be said, “I will rejoice in thy salvation.” It will be God’s salvation, not his own in that sense, and there is joy in it for his brother, and for this church, as we see the promise fulfilled: the very leaves of the Tree are for healing.
