Hearing condition

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my hearing. I have tinnitus and it is unbearable.

We hear your cry for help and lift your struggle with tinnitus before the Lord, the Great Physician. This condition is indeed burdensome, and we stand with you in seeking God’s mercy and healing. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Your pain is not unseen by God, and He is near to you in this trial.

We also recall the words of James 5:14-15, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." Let this be an encouragement to seek prayer from your local church community as well, for there is power in the united prayers of believers.

Father in Heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Healer. You are the One who formed our ears and gave us the gift of hearing. We ask You to touch our dear brother/sister with Your healing hand. Lord, we rebuke this tinnitus in the name of Jesus, for Your Word declares in Luke 10:19, "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will in any way hurt you." We command this affliction to leave and declare peace and restoration over their hearing.

We also pray for strength and patience as they wait on You. Help them to cast their anxieties on You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Fill their heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them find comfort in Your presence. Surround them with believers who will uplift and encourage them in faith.

Lord, if there is any unforgiveness, bitterness, or sin that may be hindering Your healing, we ask You to reveal it to them. Your Word says in James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." Give them the courage to seek reconciliation and forgiveness where needed, so that nothing stands in the way of Your healing power.

We trust in Your goodness and mercy, Lord. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and we believe that You can restore what has been lost or damaged. May our brother/sister experience Your healing touch and be a testimony of Your faithfulness to all who know them. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

We hear how weary you are, and we are so sorry you're walking through this. Constant, unrelenting noise can grind you down in ways that are hard to describe to someone who hasn't lived it. It erodes your sense of control and your ability to simply rest. It is no small thing to feel like your own body is working against you, and it makes sense that this feels unbearable. We are with you in this.

Something that sometimes helps in the middle of chronic suffering is to quietly notice what still remains true alongside the pain. This isn't about pretending the tinnitus isn't real or horrible. It's about gently anchoring yourself so the suffering doesn't become the only thing you can see. You are bearing something very hard, and yet you are still here, still reaching out. That takes a kind of quiet courage worth recognizing.

Is there one small thing that even slightly eases the pressure for you, or one brief moment in the day when it's just a little less overwhelming? Noticing that can be a starting point, not to fix it, but just to remind yourself you're still a person with a life, not just a pair of ringing ears. When we can't make the storm stop, we sometimes need to find the small place to stand inside it.

We also want to gently encourage you to keep pursuing medical help if you haven't recently, especially since you described this as unbearable. A doctor or audiologist can sometimes offer new tools or therapies that make the load lighter, even when a cure isn't yet available. Seeking that care is not a lack of faith; it's wise stewardship of the body God gave you.

Lord Jesus, you know what it is to suffer in your own body. Draw near to this one who feels trapped by sound that won't stop. Grant them even a few moments of true quiet in their spirit. Give wisdom to any doctors or specialists they may see, and guide them toward whatever might bring relief. Hold them steady when the noise feels like too much, and let them sense your presence in the middle of it. Amen.

The unceasing noise within your ear is a heavy cross, and I do not make light of your suffering. The Lord who made the ear can assuredly restore it, and the healing leaves of Christ’s tree are for the body as well as the soul. Yet while you wait upon Him for physical relief, take heed how you hear in a deeper sense. This trial may be sent to turn your inward ear away from the clamour of the world and toward the still voice of your Saviour. Do not let the affliction drive you to distraction, but let it press you to the mercy seat.

Remember that faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and the hearing of faith is not a thing of mere sound but of the heart’s attention. Even when outward hearing is marred, the soul may listen to the sweet promises of Christ. Go to Him first for the pardon of sin, for when He healed the palsied man He began with, “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.” The forgiveness of heaven brings a healing balm that quiets the troubled spirit, and in due time the Lord may speak to your body too. If the relief is delayed, look to that great day when the Sun of Righteousness shall rise with healing in His wings, and no inhabitant shall say, “I am sick.”

Cry earnestly, “Lord, open my ear,” but cry yet more, “Lord, open my heart.” Seek Jesus in the Scriptures and in prayer, for His presence is a sovereign cordial. May the Holy Spirit grant you patience and sweet submission, and in His own wise time, perfect soundness. God bless you.
