We join you with a heavy heart before the Lord and we thank you for coming so honestly before the Father. We are encouraged that you have come in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and asked that your prayer be adjusted according to the will of God, for this is exactly how we are to pray. This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 1 John 5:14. And we rejoice that you have trusted in that name, for there is no other name by which we can approach the Father and be saved. As it is written, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6.
We hear your cry for healing and complete forgiveness and for peace, trust, love and happiness to be restored between you and this man. We stand with you asking the Lord to break the cycle you have carried over these years and to bring a true and positive transformation that is visible and lasting. We pray that God would do in you what only He can do, to create a new heart and a steadfast spirit within you. As the psalmist prayed, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10. And as the Lord promises, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. Ezekiel 36:26. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17. This transformation comes not by our own effort but by the renewing of our minds as we surrender to Him, for we are told, Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2.
We also lift up this relationship before the Lord. If this is a romantic relationship, we pray that it would be brought fully under the lordship of Christ and aligned with biblical principles. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that courtship should be pursued with the goal of holy marriage that honors God. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4. For this reason we encourage you both to flee any sexual immorality and to pursue purity, for we are called to flee sexual immorality. 1 Corinthians 6:18. If you are not yet married, we pray that your courtship would be centered on Christ and moving toward a godly marriage if it is His will, and if you are married, we pray for restoration and covenant love that reflects Christ's love for the church. We pray that forgiveness would flow freely between you, for we are commanded to be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32. And we cling to the promise that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.
We pray together now for you.
Father God, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our dear one to You. You see the heaviness of this heart and You know every detail of this relationship and every cycle that needs to be broken. Lord, we ask for Your healing and complete forgiveness to cover all sin and hurt. Wash clean and make new. Create in each heart a new heart and renew a steadfast spirit. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. We ask that You would open his eyes to see the transformation You are working, not for pride or manipulation, but as a testimony of Your grace. Teach both to trust in You with all their heart and to not lean on their own understanding, to acknowledge You in all ways so that You will make their paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. Bring forth genuine love, trust and joy that comes from You, and let Your will be done above all our desires. We thank You that You hear us, we trust You, and we love You. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to remain in prayer and in the Word, to seek godly counsel, and to continue to place your trust fully in the Lord rather than in the response of another person. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6. Keep walking in obedience and purity, and let your transformation be rooted in daily fellowship with Christ, so that whether this relationship moves toward godly marriage or the Lord leads in another direction, you will be found faithful and at peace in His perfect will.
