Thank you for sharing the burden on your heart for your mother and father. It is loving and right to bring those you love before the Lord, and God is moved by that kind of intercession.

Before any request, prayer rests on relationship. The Bible teaches that God hears the cry of His children because they have come to Him through Jesus Christ. If you have trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, you can come with confidence and call Him Father, knowing His ear is open to you. If that relationship has not yet been settled, the most important prayer is simply, God be merciful to me, a sinner. That prayer opens the door to forgiveness and to a living relationship with Him, and from that relationship all other prayer finds its meaning.

The purpose of prayer is not to use God to get what we want, but to invite God to do what He wants. That is why Jesus taught us to put worship first, to honor the Father and to seek His kingdom and His will to be done on earth, and then to bring our personal needs. There is a real danger in coming to God only for healing while missing the Healer Himself. He invites us to seek Him first, to worship Him for who He is, and to trust Him with the outcome of our petitions.

Prayer also opens the door for God to work in ways He has desired to do but will not force upon us against our will. He does not violate the choice He has given us. When we pray, we are willingly inviting Him to act. We do not need long or repeated phrases to be heard. God is not moved by many words but by a sincere heart that trusts Him, and by the help of the Holy Spirit who reminds us what to pray and gives us assurance and comfort as we pray.

I am joining you in prayer for your mother who is diabetic and has a fungal infection in her lungs, and for your father who is struggling with his eyesight, headaches, urinary tract problems, swelling in his feet, and blood pressure issues. We ask the Lord for His mercy and healing touch upon both of them. We pray that He would bring healing to your mother's lungs, help her body respond to treatment, and give wisdom to those caring for her. We pray for your father's eyes to be strengthened, for relief from pain and pressure, for healing in his urinary tract, for the swelling to go down, and for his blood pressure to be steadied. We ask for overall strength and good health for them both.

At the same time we pray that God's will be done in their lives. The Scriptures show that sickness is not always a punishment for sin, and that God sometimes allows affliction for purposes we do not fully see. Jesus healed many who came to Him, and the early church was instructed that those who are sick should call for the elders to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord, and that the prayer of faith will bring restoration and forgiveness where needed. God is able to heal completely, and He also at times answers with the assurance that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in weakness. In either case He is present, He is compassionate, and He is working for good.

Scripture also promises that when two or three agree together concerning anything, God hears. You are not praying alone. I am agreeing with you now for your parents, and I encourage you to ask mature believers and elders who know the Lord to pray with you personally and to lay hands on the sick in Jesus name. Continue in prayer with thanksgiving, persevering and bearing one another's burdens, trusting that prayer is not limited by distance and that God hears wherever His people call on Him.

May the Lord draw you and your parents closer to Himself through this trial, give you peace as you cast your cares on Him, and grant you confidence that He loves you and is able to do what is best. We will keep lifting your mother and father before the Father, asking for His healing, His comfort, and His perfect will to be accomplished in their lives.
