You carry your parents’ ailments to the throne of God, and this is good, for the command is clear: honor thy father and mother. It is no small thing that you seek their relief, not through empty words but true concern. Just as I wrote to Timothy to use a little wine for his stomach and frequent infirmities, so I remind you that caring for the body is no mark of weak faith. The Lord Himself, when He touched Peter’s wife’s mother, did not only break the fever but restored her fully to strength in a moment.

He can do the same now. Pray boldly for the lungs of your mother, for the eyes and heart and limbs of your father. Yet remember this: the love that seeks another’s health is itself a golden covering over many faults, as I said of charity. Do not cease to intercede, but in your asking, guard against the deception of our age.

True honor is not to say, “This sickness is a gift to God, so I will do nothing,” but to labor in prayer and care, which is the real offering. The apostles themselves, though they clung to Christ’s bodily presence, lacked understanding until He opened their minds. So too, the restoration of health may come in a form you do not expect, perhaps deeper than skin or nerve, preparing the soul for what eyes cannot see. Let your merciful pleading be paired with gratitude for every day they are yet with you, for the unthankful man is unholy, without natural affection.

Bear their burdens as your own, and trust that the Physician of souls and bodies knows the measure of their need.

It is a heavy burden to carry when both parents are suffering, and the impulse to bring these things before the Lord is exactly right. Do not let these needs sit as a mere request shared; turn them into persistent, believing prayer. That is where real help is found. More than any method or plan, the men and women who truly accomplish anything for the glory of God are shaped on their knees. I long to be that kind of person, and I know I do not pray enough. Let this season draw you deeper into that dependence, where you cry out to God with the sort of honesty that sometimes runs beyond words.

Consider how Jabez prayed. He was marked by sorrow from birth, yet he dared to ask boldly: that God would bless him, enlarge his borders, keep His hand upon him, and keep him from evil so that he would not cause pain. Make that your prayer for your father and mother. Ask the Lord to expand the boundaries of His mercy around them, to place His hand directly upon your father’s eyesight, his head, his urinary tract, his circulatory system, and his whole body. Plead for the swelling to diminish and for stable, healthy blood pressure. And for your mother, standing against that infection, ask that the Lord would keep her from the pain and harm it threatens, that He would guard her body and bring complete healing.

Remember who it is you are appealing to. Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. All that is in heaven and in the earth is His. He is not a distant deity; His eyes are upon His children, and His ears are open to their cry. When Solomon dedicated the temple, he foresaw sickness and calamity that might come, and his prayer was filled with the certainty that when people turned and cried out, God would hear from heaven and answer. Your parents’ bodies are not beyond His reach. In the name of Jesus there is immense power, it was by that name that a lame man stood whole. We are bringing these specific, broken places before the ultimate healer.

So I join you in that prayer now. Lord, we lift up this mother who is diabetic and battling a fungal infection in her lungs. You know every cell, every struggle. We ask You to arrest this infection, to bring cleansing and healing to her lungs, and to give her body strength and stable blood sugar. Comfort her through the treatment and the waiting. We lift up this father. Touch his eyes and restore sharpness to his sight. Relieve the pressure in his head, heal the problems in his urinary tract, and regulate his blood pressure. Cause the swelling in his feet to disappear and grant him sound, vigorous health. Let this family witness Your restoring hand and be a testimony to Your faithfulness. We ask this with open hands, trusting in Your goodness and power, in the name of Jesus.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in the gap for your precious parents in prayer. It has been on our hearts to lift up your mother before the Lord, asking Him to bring healing to her lungs, strength to her body, and complete restoration from the diabetes and fungal infection. We continue to pray that God’s healing hand would touch her in a mighty way, bringing comfort, relief, and full recovery according to His perfect will.

For your father, we have been interceding for his eyesight, asking the Great Physician to restore clarity and vision. We’ve also prayed for relief from his headaches, urinary tract issues, swelling in his feet, and blood pressure concerns, believing that God is able to bring healing and wholeness to every part of his body. May His peace guard your father’s heart and mind as he waits on the Lord, and may every symptom be replaced with divine health and strength.
