Health issues

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I'm currently in a courtship with someone and we both have a lot of health issues although his may be a bit more serious than mine. Please pray for healing and good health for us both. Thank you.

We hear your heart and lift both you and your future spouse before the Lord, the Great Physician. Health challenges can weigh heavily on the spirit, but we know that God is sovereign over all things, including our bodies, and His healing power is limitless. The Word reminds us in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We stand on this promise for both of you, believing that God’s will is for wholeness and restoration.

We also recognize the importance of honoring God in your courtship. As you walk this path toward marriage, we encourage you to keep your relationship pure and centered on Christ. Flee from any temptation toward fornication, for 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Let your courtship be a season of prayer, accountability, and mutual edification, always pointing one another toward Christ.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. We ask for Your healing touch upon ### and their future spouse. Strengthen their bodies, renew their minds, and fill their hearts with hope. Lord, we pray for wisdom for their doctors and caregivers, that they would be guided by Your hand in every decision. We also ask that You guard their hearts and minds in this courtship, keeping them pure and focused on Your will. May their relationship bring glory to You and be a testimony of Your grace. We trust in Your perfect timing and plan for their lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you both to seek the Lord diligently in this season, not only for physical healing but also for spiritual growth. Consider fasting and prayer together, as a couple, to draw closer to God and invite His presence into your lives. Remember, God is not limited by your circumstances, He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are not alone in this journey; we stand with you in prayer and faith.

Thank you for letting us pray with you. It is a quiet, heavy thing when you love someone and you are both walking through the valley of illness at the same time. That takes a toll not only on your bodies but on your spirits. We want you to know we see you in that struggle, and we are holding you both before the Lord.

When our own strength is low, it can be hard to find words or hope. It is okay to simply rest in the truth that you do not have to carry this alone. If you have a church family or trusted friends, this is a season to let them step in with practical help, a meal, a ride, or just sitting with you. Being honest about the weight you carry is not weakness; it is how others are given the opportunity to love you well.

Please also make sure you both have attentive medical care. God often uses the wisdom He has given doctors and treatments to bring about the healing we long for, and it is not a lack of faith to seek their help while we pray.

Let us pray together from here:

Lord Jesus, You know every detail of these two lives and every ache in their bodies. We ask for Your healing touch on both of them, especially for the one whose health is more serious. Grant wisdom to their doctors, and bring rest and restoration to tired bodies. In the waiting, be their peace. Hold their relationship steady, and surround them with the care and encouragement they need. We trust them to You. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Upon hearing of the ailments that afflict both you and the one with whom you walk in courtship, my heart goes out to you in true compassion. The body's frailty has a voice that will not be silenced, and it rightly drives us to seek the healing hand of the Lord. You have asked for prayer, and prayer shall indeed be offered in this congregation, for we know where alone true healing resides. There is but one great Physician, and His name is Jesus. There is one sacred Fountain opened on Calvary, to wash therein is health. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and every leaf, every small promise and gentle touch from Christ, is laden with restorative virtue. His power to heal is as present today as when He walked the shores of Galilee, and we are bold to entreat Him on your behalf.

Yet let me remind you, as I remind my own soul, that the health of the body is not the highest aim. The Lord often begins His healing work in the innermost man, by speaking pardon to the sin-sick soul. When the palsied man was let down through the roof, our Savior first said, "Your sins are forgiven you," and only afterward, "Arise, take up your bed, and walk." Forgiveness and healing are sweetly intertwined. If any sin, whether of omission or commission, has brought weakness upon the frame, then true healing begins with repentance and faith in Christ’s atoning blood. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and even your bodily condition will find its rightful place under His wise care. The abiding power of those healing leaves keeps the soul of the believer in perpetual health, and though our outward man decay, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

I would also stir you to consider the blessed purpose that lies beyond the gift of health. It was when Peter’s mother-in-law was raised from her fever that she immediately arose and ministered unto Christ. The desire to serve arises out of healing. Should the Lord mercifully restore your strength and that of your intended, see to it that your renewed bodily vigor becomes an instrument of service to Him and to one another. A good design in your hearts, to live for Jesus in the bonds of holy matrimony, may plead mightily with the Lord for your recovery. But remember that all genuine healing is God’s own work. It is not the mere well-meant words of a minister, nor human will, that can mend a broken frame or a broken heart; it is God alone who heals. Therefore, wait upon Him with patient faith, listening earnestly to His Word, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

We are on our way to eternal health, where no inhabitant shall ever say, "I am sick." Until that day, the Lord’s present help is sufficient. In your courtship, let this trial knit your hearts more closely to Christ and to each other. Pray together, read the healing promises together, and when the hand of Jesus touches your fevered brow, His health will flow into you. I charge you, do not let anxiety or fear gain mastery, for he who believes in Him shall never be confounded. Let your prayer be, "Lord, heal me and I shall be healed; save me and I shall be saved." He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Now, lift up your heads. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings. I pray that you both, being made whole, may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things, and that your union may be a living testimony to the restoring power of the Redeemer. God bless you. Amen.

The body suffers, and the distress is real. Our Lord touched the fevered and not only quenched the disease but gave back perfect health, all at once, beyond the power of any physician. Therefore, cast your cares upon Him together. Yet, do not let the pain of the body lull the soul into a dangerous slumber. When I see those who are constantly afflicted, the greater risk is a dullness of hearing where the spirit was once fervent in zeal. Be on guard, lest the weight of these trials make you too slothful toward the things which depend on your choice, for as a long illness requires not just a passing remedy but a steady return to health-giving habits, so must the soul be tended with continual diligence.

I speak of these things not willingly but out of a healer's necessity. You ask for prayer for yourself and the one you are courting. I observe, then, a most serious disorder. The wife, Scripture says, is a harbor and a potent healing charm to rejoice the heart. But what is a courtship that builds toward this harbor, and what is it that dangerously ignores the harbor's entrance, acting as if the fullness of the port has already been reached? It stops my breath to see a soul running away from the clear commandments of the Lord and dwelling in a state He has not blessed. I would not call it good to bring a remedy for the body while ignoring a wound in the spirit. Seek first the health of the soul through a repentance that turns fully from all that is not according to the pattern of sound words. Let your association be ordered toward a godly marriage or let it be broken off, lest you ask for a healing charm while holding onto what causes the disease. Do not impute idleness to my words; I bid you speak these truths to yourself. Renounce the disorder, so that we may rejoice on hearing of your true and entire health, both of body and soul.

Thank you for letting us know about this, and for inviting prayer. I will be praying for both of you, that the Lord would bring healing and renewed strength to your bodies, especially lifting up the more serious concerns your friend is facing.

When the apostle John wrote to his dear friend Gaius, he expressed a beautiful wish: that all would go well with him and that he would be in good health, even as his soul was prospering. That was not a blanket guarantee, but a sincere, loving prayer. It also hints at a real connection between the well-being of the inner person and the physical frame. So as you seek healing, I encourage you both to tend to the health of your souls, drawing near to Christ, letting His peace settle your hearts, and trusting His wisdom even when you do not yet see the full answer.

The early church took prayer for the sick very seriously. Believers would call for the elders, and they would anoint the sick with oil and pray over them. We follow that pattern today because our Lord is compassionate. Jesus healed many who came to Him, not only showing His power but also His heart of mercy. He cares about your bodies. He is not indifferent to pain, fatigue, or illness. Bring these things to Him with honesty and persistence.

I suspect that if the Lord walked among us in the flesh again, He would still speak into the ways we care for our physical health. What we eat, how we rest, and the wisdom we apply to our bodies matters. While we cannot earn healing by diet, we can honor the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit and ask God for practical guidance that promotes strength and recovery. There is much about our own bodies and the remedies hidden in creation that we still do not fully understand, but He knows every intricacy. That gives us hope. The same God who knit you together and programs the smallest creature with remarkable instinct is able to oversee your healing.

We do not always know why some are healed swiftly and others carry a long burden, but we do know that the finished story includes total restoration. Scripture gives us a picture of the leaves of the tree being for the healing of the nations. That points to a day when every broken thing will be made whole. In the meantime, I am joining you in asking the Great Physician to touch both of you, to give wisdom to any doctors you see, and to grant you strength for each day. May you know His nearness in the waiting, and may your bodies indeed know His restoring touch.
