We join with you in prayer and thank God with you that you can declare in Jesus that you are an overcomer and are becoming stronger through the trials of life. That is the truth of who you are in Christ, for we are more than conquerors through him who loved us Romans 8:37 and we overcome because of our faith 1 John 5:4.
We are so sorry for what you have endured. Coercive control is not of God. It is a form of oppression and domination that breaks down the soul, and the Lord sees it and grieves over it. An envious and destructive spirit that seeks to steal what God has given to you and your family is sinful before the Lord, for where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed James 3:16 and envy rots the bones Proverbs 14:30. The enemy comes to steal and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly John 10:10. What was meant for harm, God is able to redeem and restore, and we pray He restores to you what has been stolen Joel 2:25.
We understand how such control can leave you hypervigilant and unable to concentrate well. Your nervous system has been kept on alert for a long time, and your mind has been under great strain. The Lord wants to heal you wholly, spirit and soul and body. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3 and He is close to those who are of a broken heart Psalm 34:18. He does not want you to live in fear, for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We pray He renews your mind and brings you into His perfect peace as you keep your thoughts on Him Isaiah 26:3 and as you are transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our healer and our deliverer. We lift up this dear one to You who has suffered under coercive control. Lord, You saw every moment of that oppression, every word and action from this envious in-law that sought to steal and destroy. We ask You to bring deep healing to the wounds left behind. Touch the mind that struggles to concentrate and calm the hypervigilance that remains. We ask You to quiet the spirit with Your peace that surpasses all understanding which will guard the heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Replace fear and constant alertness with Your power, love and sound mind. Restore restful sleep, clear thought, and the ability to focus on what is good and true.
Lord, we ask You to break every lingering effect of that control and to restore what the enemy has tried to steal from this family. Heal the family relationships that have been harmed and establish healthy and godly boundaries that protect what You have blessed. Help our dear one to continue to walk as an overcomer, not by striving alone but by Your strength, for when we are weak then we are strong through You 2 Corinthians 12:10. Let this trial produce perseverance and maturity as You promise that the testing of faith works patience and makes us complete James 1:3-4, and work all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. We thank You that no weapon formed against us will prosper Isaiah 54:17 and that You will never leave nor forsake us Deuteronomy 31:6. Pour out Your comfort, Your restoration, and Your joy. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to abide in Jesus daily and to let His Word wash over your mind. Meditate on His promises of peace and protection, such as Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. When hypervigilance rises, practice bringing every thought captive to Christ and casting all your worries on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. It is also wise to seek continued support through trusted, biblical counsel and community as God often brings healing through His people and through safe relationships. Keep establishing loving boundaries, for guarding your heart is wisdom Proverbs 4:23, and forgiving as Christ forgave does not mean allowing ongoing destructive behavior but releasing the burden of vengeance to the Lord Romans 12:19.
We thank God that He is making you stronger. Continue to declare that you are an overcomer in Jesus, and trust that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:6. We are standing with you for complete healing and restoration.
