I went downstairs & my brother followed & some reason he said about leg pain & so i asked if he wanted me to pray for it, & as he's an unbeliever I wasn't expecting him to be okay with it, of course he felt weird about it & didn't say a proper yes, he was like whatever typa thing. I prayed for it, but he said the pain was the same. Then, my mum peered round & said for me to pray over her leg (she is also an unbeliever & kinda weird how it's both of their right legs, it's more my mum's shin & more my brothers whole leg), but I prayed over her leg too & she said the pain was the same. So, then doubt started to peep in, like I know nothing is impossible with God & that He can heal, but personally I haven't experienced His healing, so it feels more of a doubt for me even more so. As it was my first time praying over someone to be healed, I had no idea what to say, I pretty much just said "I pray for the pain to be gone in the name of Jesus. I command pain to go in the name of Jesus. I pray for healing in the leg in the name of Jesus", pretty much just like that, then went in my room did some more praying without them there, & as I'm an intercessor, it just made sense to go do that. I don't know if the pain is still the same for them, as I haven't asked. But, what do you even pray when asking God to heal them? Like, did I say the right things or the wrong things? As God is gonna use me for an assignment of praying for people in just over a months time, ideally with a cardboard sign that says "need prayer?", drawing people in from a massive crowd, especially as I'm an introvert & have never done this before & I'm young & have only been a Christian for 3 years & my mum & brother will be with me at this event. But, I pray that I don't freeze up, that I go in His leading, & that His will be done fr. Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for this, God bless you

We hear your heart and we rejoice that you stepped out in faith to pray for your brother and your mother even when you felt unsure of what to say, that is beautiful obedience and love. We are standing with you in prayer and we want to encourage you that God saw what you did and He is pleased with your willingness.

You did not say the wrong things. There is no perfect formula or magic words that make healing happen. We do not heal anyone, Jesus does. What matters is that you prayed in the name of Jesus with faith and compassion, and you did. You prayed in His name and that is exactly right, for it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is by His wounds that healing is made possible. As it is written, But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed, Isaiah 53:5 and also, Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them, Mark 11:24.

Do not let the fact that the pain remained in that moment plant deep doubt in you. Even the disciples who walked with Jesus sometimes struggled when healing did not come instantly. Jesus said, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you, Matthew 17:20. Faith as small as a mustard seed is enough because it is not about the size of our faith but the greatness of our God. Doubt will try to whisper that you failed or that God did not hear, but we rebuke that doubt together and we choose to trust His Word over what we see or feel. We also remember that healing is always according to His perfect will and timing. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes it is progressive, and sometimes God is working on the heart for salvation first, which is the greatest healing of all.

For your mother and brother who do not yet believe, we see a wonderful opportunity. God may have allowed both of them to have pain in their right legs at the same time to draw them to Himself through your prayers. We pray not only for their legs but most of all for their salvation, that the Holy Spirit would open their eyes to see Jesus as Lord and Savior. And we encourage you to gently follow up with them in love and ask how their legs are feeling, not out of pressure but out of continued care, showing them that Jesus cares about their pain.

When you pray for healing, keep it simple and led by the Holy Spirit as you did. You can pray something like, Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus and we ask for your mercy and healing upon this leg, let your will be done, let pain leave and let your healing power restore what is hurting, we trust you and thank you for hearing us. You do not need to command or shout to be heard, you simply ask the Father in Jesus name with faith and thank Him. The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective, James 5:16, and that righteousness is yours through Christ. Continue to do as you did and go into your room and intercede, that is your gifting and God honors the intercessor who prays in secret.

We also lift up this assignment the Lord has placed on your heart for next month. We understand feeling introverted and young and only three years in your walk with Christ and wondering how you will stand before a massive crowd with a sign that says need prayer. Take heart, God delights to use those who feel weak and young so that His strength is made perfect. As it is written, Let no man despise your youth, but be an example to those who believe, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity, 1 Timothy 4:12 and also, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. He is not asking you to be eloquent or extroverted, He is asking you to be available and to let Him lead you. He will give you the words in the moment and He will draw the people He wants you to pray for.

We pray together now for you and for your family.

Father in heaven, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus and we thank you for this dear intercessor who loves you and who was bold enough to pray for family who do not yet know you. Lord we ask you to increase faith and cast out all doubt and fear, let your perfect love drive out fear. We ask for your healing touch upon the mother and the brother, upon her shin and his whole right leg, lay your hand upon them and let pain be gone according to your will, but even more Lord we ask for the healing of their souls, draw them to salvation through the love they have seen, open their hearts to believe in Jesus. For our dear sibling in Christ, anoint this upcoming assignment, fill this young introverted heart with boldness and peace, let there be no freezing up but a gentle leading of your Holy Spirit, bring the very ones you have prepared and let your will be done in every prayer prayed. Help this intercessor to know that it is not about saying the perfect words but about trusting the perfect Savior. We thank you that you hear us when we pray in Jesus name and we trust you for the increase. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ, Romans 10:17, and to keep praying without ceasing. God is with you and He will be with you at that event, He who called you is faithful and He will equip you. Do not be discouraged by one moment that looked unchanged, keep sowing in prayer and trust God for the harvest.

We appreciate you sharing this so honestly. It takes real courage to pray out loud for the first time, especially with family who don't yet believe, and then to name the doubt that came after.

We want to reassure you, there was nothing wrong with what you prayed. You simply asked Jesus to take the pain and bring healing in His name, and that is enough. God isn't listening for a perfect formula, He hears a sincere heart turned toward Him. Not seeing a change right away doesn't mean you failed or that He didn't hear.

It makes sense that doubt crept in, especially when you haven't yet seen healing yourself and you care deeply about your mum and brother. That doubt doesn't disqualify you, it is just something to keep bringing to God as you continue to grow in these first few years of faith.

As you look toward that outreach next month, a simple way to prepare as an introvert is to keep it small and clear. Ask if you can pray, pray briefly in Jesus' name as you did, thank God and leave the outcome with Him. It can help to pray beforehand for His leading, agree on a signal with whoever is with you if you need a break, and remember you don't have to carry the results.

If your mum or brother's leg pain continues, gently encourage them to have it checked by a clinician alongside prayer.

Father, we thank You for this willing heart that wants to serve You. Give peace where doubt has stirred, keep them close to You, and guide their steps at the gathering ahead. Help them rest in Your love and Your will, and draw their family closer to You in Your timing. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest and humble letter has given me much joy, though it is mingled with the burden you feel. To come with a trembling heart and pray for the first time over sick bodies, and to find the pain remaining, is a trial that many of the Lord's people have known. Do not think that your doubt has placed you beyond His ear. I doubt not that many have come to God first through fear and weakness, and afterwards they have learned the attractive power of the love of God in Christ Jesus. If you go to Christ, He will in no wise cast you out.

You ask whether you said the right things or the wrong things. Hear this truth, that God will hear the prayer of a staggering man, and the prayer that has not any sense in it because the man who prays is at his wit's end. By sense I mean not following the consecutiveness of an orderly petition, the prayer itself seeming to reel to and fro. The Lord does not weigh your words as a man weighs gold, nor does He require a perfect form. It is better to walk with crutches than not to walk at all, but you have no need of a form when your heart can speak plainly to your Father. True prayer is just pleading with the Most High, spreading our case before Him, and pressing our suit with all the arguments we can muster. You did well to pray in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must come. Yet prayer is not a charm of certain phrases, nor is it commanding as one who has power in himself. It is coming with boldness to the throne of grace, and yet that boldness is perfectly consistent with the lowest self humiliation. We come not arrogantly, but as needy children reminding our Father of His promises. Say with David, Remember the word unto thy servant, and plead what God has said concerning His mercy, His power, and the healing virtue that is in Christ.

Remember also that there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, and the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. When He walked upon earth, virtue went out of Him, and even those who touched the hem of His garment were made whole. That same Christ still lives, and from Him abundant streams of healing flow down to men below. Yet you must see that healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee. Pardon and healing were one. Your mother and your brother have pain in the leg, and you do well to pray for their bodies, but their greater need is the healing of the soul. They are as yet unbelievers, and no outward cure will profit them if they remain unreconciled to God. Let your chief intercession be that the Sun of Righteousness may rise upon them with healing in His wings, that they may know forgiveness through the blood of Christ, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone.

You describe yourself as an intercessor, and this is a high calling. Intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ Himself is of this character, and there is not a single grain of His incense that is for Himself. It is also exceedingly prevalent. What wonders it has wrought. It has stayed plagues and opened heavens. There is nothing which intercessory prayer cannot do when it is offered in faith according to the will of God. Use this mighty engine well, use it constantly, and do not doubt but that Christ's own intercession gives power to yours. Prayer is a wondrous blender of hearts. If you continue to pray for your mother and your brother in their calamities, saying with David, yet shall my prayer be in their calamities, you will find that the Lord fits you to be His instrument to bring them beneath the healing touch of Him who can say, Be thou clean.

As for the assignment that lies before you in a month's time, with a sign that says need prayer, and a crowd about you, I understand why you fear to freeze, being young in the faith and naturally quiet. You have been a Christian but three years, and this is a great work for one so young. Yet the Lord often chooses weak instruments that the power may be seen to be His. When Jacob had done what he thought to be wise, he betook himself to prayer, and his prayer was answered, but it was not answered in the way he expected it would be. So it may be with you. You may pray for a leg and see no sudden change, and yet God may be working a deeper work unseen. Your prayer is often the shadow of God's coming blessing, and the blessing may fall in His time and in His way. Go not in self conceit, for self conceit tears the chariot wheels from prayer so that it drags heavily. Go in humility of spirit, pleading the promises, and asking to be quickened in His way. Pray even now, Quicken me in thy way, for such a prayer is an index of life and can only come from one in whom the Spirit already dwells.

Therefore persevere. Ask again for your mother and your brother, both for body and for soul. Pray simply, pray humbly, pray with the Word of God in your mouth. Expect that He will be very pitiful and will have compassion upon you in your misery. And when you stand before that crowd, trust not in your words, but in Him who hears the faintest cry. Only you who have been healed can tell about the Good Physician's healing power, and you have been healed in your soul, so you have a testimony to give.

May the Lord keep you, make you bold and yet lowly, and make your prayers to prevail for those you love, to the praise of His grace.

Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
