We hear your cry and we lift you up together before the throne of grace in Jesus' name. You are not alone in this struggle, and we thank you for sharing so honestly about the anxiety and fear you are feeling about flying, about the reunion, about your health and hearing, and about your marriage and loved ones who are facing cancer.
We want to gently remind you that we have access to the Father only through Jesus Christ. You have cried out to the Lord, which is good, but we want to make sure you know the precious truth that it is by the name of Jesus that we are saved and heard. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we read, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we come to God boldly, not on our own merit, but through faith in Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again, and we encourage you to place your full trust in Him for peace and healing.
Your anxiety and fear are very real, especially as you have gotten older and have walked through changes in your hearing. It is understandable to feel more vulnerable, but Scripture tells us that this fear does not come from God. In 2 Timothy 1:7 it says, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. And in Isaiah 41:10 He says, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. The Lord wants to exchange your anxiety for His peace.
We are encouraged to bring everything to Him. In Philippians 4:6-7 we read, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. In 1 Peter 5:7 we are told to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. And Jesus Himself says in John 14:27, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
We also rejoice that you are praying for your marriage, that you would get along and have a safe and happy trip without arguing. God honors marriage and desires unity and love between a husband and wife. We encourage you both to walk in love and patience toward one another on this trip, bearing with one another in love as Ephesians 4:2 says, and above all putting on love which is the bond of perfection as taught in Colossians 3:14. The Lord can guard your words and your hearts so that this time together builds up your marriage.
We join you in praying for healing for you and your husband, for your sisters and families and friends, and especially for your loved ones who are battling brain cancer and cancer. We believe God is our healer. In Psalm 103:2-3 we read, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. And in Jeremiah 30:17 the Lord says, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We also cling to Psalm 121:8, Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore, as you travel.
Let us pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You that we can come boldly to Your throne of grace. We lift up our dear sister to You right now. You see her anxiety and fear about flying and about the reunion, You see the changes she feels with age and with her hearing, and You know the heaviness on her heart. Lord we ask You to rebuke the spirit of fear and to fill her with Your power, love and self-control. Let Your perfect love cast out fear, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help her to cast all her cares on You, knowing that You care for her deeply.
Lord we ask for Your healing touch upon her and her husband, strengthen their bodies and their marriage. Give them unity, patience, kindness and joy on this trip. Keep them safe as they fly and as they travel, keep their going out and coming in, let there be no arguing but only love and understanding between them, and let everything go well according to Your will. Comfort her with Your presence on the plane and at the reunion, and help her new hearing device to be a blessing.
Father we also lift up her sisters, families and friends, and the two dear ones battling cancer, one with brain cancer and one with cancer. Lord You are the Great Physician, nothing is impossible for You. We ask for Your mercy and healing, for comfort and strength for them and their families, and that Your will be done in their lives. Restore health where You see fit and draw each one closer to Jesus through this trial.
We thank You Lord that You have heard our prayer. We trust You and we rest in Your love. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.
