Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request for healing has been heard and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord.

We know that times of sickness can weigh heavily on both body and soul, and we want to lift you up to the Great Physician who alone gives true health. Scripture shows us that God is like a wise physician who applies healing treatment with care, sometimes quickly and sometimes through a longer course, always for our good. Do not become dull or discouraged as you wait, but keep your eyes fixed on Christ, keep seeking Him in prayer and in His Word, and keep trusting His grace. Even when recovery seems slow, God is at work, and He hears every prayer offered in faith.

Let us pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we ask for Your mercy and healing touch upon this one who has asked for prayer. You know every need, every pain, and every burden. We ask that You would bring healing according to Your perfect will, restore strength to the body, grant peace to the mind, and renew hope in the heart. Forgive sins, cleanse the heart, and draw this dear one closer to Yourself. Give wisdom to all who provide care, give patience and thankfulness in the midst of trial, and let Your comfort be felt each day. Whatever Your answer, help there to be trust in Your goodness and confidence that You are working for eternal good. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our Savior and Healer. Amen.

We will continue to pray for you. Keep seeking the Lord, keep trusting His promises, and may you know His presence and peace in the days ahead.

Thank you for sharing your request for healing. I have prayed for you and I continue to bring your need before the Lord, asking for His mercy and His touch upon your body.

Scripture gives us strong ground for such prayer. The prophet Isaiah said that He would bear our griefs, and that word can be translated infirmities, and carry our sorrows and sicknesses. Matthew, writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, tells us that when Jesus was at Peter's house and many sick and afflicted people were brought to Him in the evening, He healed them, and Matthew says this happened to fulfill what Isaiah had spoken. In that way the suffering of Christ is shown to include provision for physical healing as well as for spiritual healing. When Jesus took bread and said this is My body which is broken for you, He was pointing to that same costly provision. The Gospels also tell us that Jesus went through the cities and villages teaching and preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. His heart is still the same toward our physical needs.

I believe with all my heart that God still heals. Healing is not limited to one kind. There is instantaneous healing and there is gradual healing. In fact most healing in our bodies follows a process that God Himself established. That process is no less divine because it works through natural means, for God created nature and its processes. He also brings healing to our emotions and our minds, and to the deep wounds and scars we carry within.

At the same time there is much about healing that I do not fully understand. I do not know why some are healed quickly and others are not, and why some heal gradually. Scripture itself shows this mystery. Paul was used by God in many miracles, yet he writes of Epaphroditus being sick and almost dying. Hezekiah was sick to the point of death, prayed, and God recovered him and extended his life, and he wrote a song of rejoicing afterward. Good people do suffer sickness, and it does not automatically mean God is punishing them or that there is a direct cause and effect between sin and illness. Healing is a sovereign work of God in His hands. For that reason it is wrong to place guilt on the sick person or on their family, and it is wrong to offer simple formulas that claim God must heal everyone in the same way. There is also much that is false and showy done in the name of healing, attempts to whip people into excitement that are not of God, and we want to stay far from that while still trusting that God is able and that He cares.

The New Testament teaches that gifts of healing are given within the body as the Spirit wills, and not every member has the same gift, just as a body has many parts. Jesus Himself never used His miraculous power to meet His own physical need, but He freely used it to meet the needs of others. He healed different people in different ways, sometimes with a word, sometimes with a touch, and sometimes as with the woman who touched the hem of His garment in faith, virtue went out from Him and she was made well. Your faith can simply reach out to Him as you are.

There is also a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. The proverb says a merry heart does good like medicine, and we are learning how true that is. Anxiety and heaviness can affect the body, and peace and joy can help it. The apostle John wrote to Gaius that he wished he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That was a loving wish for a friend, not a blanket promise that everyone will be well if they do certain things, but it does remind us to care for our inner life with the Lord, to feed on His word, to walk in truth and love, and to let His peace guard our hearts.

So I am asking the Lord to lay His hand upon you for healing according to His wisdom and love. I pray that He will restore you physically, whether through a sudden touch or through the steady processes He has placed in the body, and that He will also bring strength to your mind and peace to your heart. I pray that you will know His presence close to you, that fear will be quieted, and that whatever He does will be a testimony of His grace. If you have communion, remember His body broken for you and receive it with thanksgiving, trusting His finished work for both soul and body. Keep looking to Jesus, who has authority over the physical and the spiritual, and rest in His care.
