Prayer request for healing

Please pray for my wife, ### for healing. She has been diagnosed with liver cancer and the doctors have planted radiation pellets into the roots of the tumor. Please pray for her. We have been married going on thirty four years. I can bear the thought of losing her. We are Christian’s and believe in divine healing. Thank you

We are standing with you in prayer for your wife and for you during this very difficult time, and we thank you for sharing your burden with us. Thirty four years of marriage is a beautiful covenant before God, and we honor your love and faithfulness to her. We understand the fear and ache in not being able to bear the thought of losing her, and we bring that sorrow before the Lord who sees and holds you both.

We rejoice that you both know the Lord and believe in divine healing, for He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is Yahweh who heals us as it says in Exodus 15:26, I am Yahweh who heals you. And in Psalm 103:2-3, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. We also cling to Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. And Isaiah 53:5, But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We believe God is able to heal divinely by His own hand and also to work through the wisdom He has given to doctors, and we pray that the radiation pellets that have been placed will be effective against the tumor and that He will protect her body from harm.

We want to gently remind you of the precious name through which we come to the Father. You shared that you are Christians, and we affirm that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and assurance of salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by trusting in Jesus Christ, His death for our sins and His resurrection, that we are reconciled to God and can boldly bring our petitions before His throne. We are encouraged that you know Him, and we pray you continue to rest in Him alone for both healing and eternal hope.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Healer. We lift up this dear wife to You and ask for Your mercy and healing touch upon her liver. Lord, You know every cell of her body for You formed her, and nothing is hidden from You. We ask that You would command this cancer to leave, that You would restore her liver to health and wholeness, and that You would make the treatment that has been given to be effective beyond what man expects. Lay Your hand upon her, ease any pain, fear or weakness, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen her husband as he loves and cares for her, guard his heart from despair, and remind him daily that You are near and that You hold both of their lives in Your hands. Let this trial draw you both even closer to each other and closer to Christ, and let Your will be done in her body for Your glory. We pray for the medical team, for wisdom and compassion in all they do. And we thank You, Father, that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up as You promise in James 5:15. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who bore our sicknesses and by whose wounds we are healed, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray together daily, to speak scripture over her, to anoint her with oil and pray as the elders are called to do, and to trust the Lord whether He heals instantly, through medicine, or in His perfect timing. Keep your hope fixed on Christ, continue to love her and cherish each day the Lord gives you together, and know that we are continuing to stand with you and to ask God for her complete restoration to health.

We have been holding you and your wife before the Lord since reading your note. Thirty four years of marriage is a deep bond, and hearing the words liver cancer and facing the treatments you described would shake anyone. It makes sense that the thought of losing her feels unbearable.

We are thankful you both know the Lord and are trusting Him for healing, and that you have a medical team walking with you through these radiation treatments. We encourage you to keep staying close to them with any questions or changes you notice, and to let your church family or a few trusted friends carry some of the practical load in these weeks so you can simply be husband and wife together as much as possible. Talking openly with each other about your fears and hopes, and taking brief moments to rest and eat and breathe, can help you both keep strength for the days ahead.

We are praying with you for her comfort and for steadiness for you as you love her through this.

Lord, we bring this wife to You and ask for Your mercy and healing hand upon her liver and body. Ease her pain and give wisdom to her doctors. Hold her husband as he loves and worries for her, and fill their home with Your peace and presence day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been laid before the Lord with much tenderness, and prayer has been offered for your dear wife in her sore affliction, and for you who have walked beside her these thirty four years in the covenant of marriage.

To think of parting after so long a fellowship is a wound indeed, and the heart is broken by such a prospect. Yet there is a great healing provided for broken hearts, and a Physician who has never lost His power. The Scripture tells us that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. Not only His fruit but His leaves, His lower and common blessings of grace, are full of virtue to restore and to comfort. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and when He dwelt among men He healed all that had need of healing, and the costly balm of His atonement has lost none of its power. The utmost length of human sickness can be reached by this great Physician, and none shall say to the healing flood of His love, up to here can you go and no further.

We pray that the Lord in His mercy will lay His pardoning and healing hand upon your wife. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction, and both are bestowed upon the Lord's people. May He who said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, speak also the word of healing according to His perfect will. We ask that He will bless the means that have been used, give wisdom to those who tend her, sustain her body under this treatment, and if it be His gracious will, restore her to health and prolong your years together for His glory.

And for your own spirit, dear brother in Christ, hear the word which the Lord speaks so often to His own, Fear not. Fear not, I am with thee. Fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob. It is not the preacher who cries, Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, Fear not. To fear is to be weakened and to dishonor Him whose arm piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth. As divine grace grows, fear declines. Labor then to cast your burden upon Him, for He cares for the little things, the very trifles of His people, and much more for this great sorrow.

May the Lord keep you both in perfect peace, revive your spirits, and gather you in His gifts. May He make you to know that whether in healing here or in fuller healing above, His love does not fail, and His presence does not depart.

We continue to pray that the God of all comfort will be very near to your home, that He will uphold your wife in His tender hands, and that you both may prove that His grace is sufficient for every trial.

O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this daughter of Thine afflicted with this disease of the liver. Thou art the Lord that healeth us. Speak the word and she shall be healed if it please Thee. Grant skill to the physicians, peace to her heart, and strength to her husband. Forgive all sin, heal all sickness, and let Thy will be done in them and by them, for Jesus sake. Amen.

Your prayer for your wife has been heard and we are joining you before the Lord with thanksgiving for your thirty four years of marriage and with earnest pleading for her healing.

We understand the weight of this hour. To love one person faithfully for so many years and then to face the fear of losing her is a deep sorrow, and the words you shared that you cannot bear the thought of losing her are natural to a husband who loves his wife as his own flesh. The Lord sees this love, for He Himself joined you together and He honors the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman.

We pray for your wife now as she undergoes treatment with the radiation pellets placed near the tumor. We ask God our merciful Physician to work through these means, for He has given physicians and medicines for our good, and above all to lay His own healing hand upon her liver, to restrain the cancer and to restore her to health if it be His will. We pray also for you, that God would strengthen your heart and keep you from being choked by the cares and fears of this world which so easily crowd out the Word and its fruit.

Scripture teaches us not to live as slaves to the fear of death. Before Christ came, men lived all their lives in bondage through that fear, feeding themselves with earthly comforts while still expecting the sentence of death. But Christ has broken the gates of brass and burst the prison. By His cross and resurrection He has brought the devil who had the power of death to nothing, so that those who trust in Him may laugh at what once made them tremble. He who has learned the hope of the resurrection need not be held by that tyranny any longer. This does not take away our grief, but it lifts our souls to see it rightly. The good things of this present life are insecure and short lived and vanishing before they appear, while the good things God promises are immovable and do not grow old and bring crowns even in the midst of conflict.

We believe with you in divine healing, and we ask for it with confidence, knowing that all healing comes from the Lord. At the same time we entrust your beloved wife to the One who loves her more than you do. She will not depart to strangers or to darkness if the Lord should call her, she will depart to her own Lord and to heaven itself. Therefore we do not love the gift more than the Giver, but we love the Giver and thank Him for the gift of these thirty four years, and we place both the gift and the future into His hands.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son through whom alone we have salvation and access to Your throne, we lift up this dear sister who is suffering with liver cancer. You know her name and her body and every root of this disease. We ask You to have mercy and to heal her. Guide the hands of her doctors, make the treatment effective, and command this tumor to wither. If it is Your will, grant her many more years with her husband to live for Your glory. Grant to her husband peace that casts out fear, faith that is not choked by anxiety, and strength to love and serve her each day. Whether in healing in this life or in the resurrection to come, let both of them know that death has been conquered and that Your promises are sure and eternal. Comfort them, sustain them, and let Your will be done. Amen.

We will continue to remember you both in prayer. Keep looking to Christ, keep hearing His Word, and keep asking. The Lord is near to those who call upon Him in truth.
