Healing

Your declaration stirs my heart. To set your hope on the Lord and proclaim, “I will live and not die to declare the works of the Lord” is a cry of faith that echoes through Scripture. Yet in seasons of weakness, it is easy to slip into a dangerous belief: that our standing with God, or even His willingness to heal, depends on our own spiritual performance. The truth is simpler and far more sturdy. Righteousness before God has never come by human effort or religious discipline. It rests on faith in Jesus Christ alone. His finished work is the only foundation that will hold when everything else shakes.

So when you ask for healing, remember that it is a work of God, not a reward for your obedience. Jesus Himself testified that the works He did were not His own; the Father dwelling in Him accomplished them. He healed to reveal the Father’s mercy and to bear witness to His own authority. In the same way, any restoration of your body will be a demonstration of divine grace, not a seal of your personal goodness, but a display of His compassion. Petition Him boldly, yet hold your expectation with open hands, trusting that He works in many ways and will always do what is best for you.

Be careful too with the notion that sickness signals a weak faith. That idea imposes a burden Jesus never laid on the suffering. God works miracles according to His own wisdom, not in response to a flawless inner state. Many beloved saints have walked through deep affliction without immediate deliverance, and their lives still declared the works of the Lord. Your illness does not diminish you in His sight.

What, then, does it mean to declare His works? It means that your life, whether through healing or patient endurance, shines the light of Christ so that others give glory to your Father in heaven. Genuine faith always produces action; it is never a hollow confession. But those actions flow from grateful love, not frantic self-justification. You are not standing before God on your record of service. You stand on the righteousness of another, and from that secure place you can both labor and rest.

When Jesus faced His own suffering, He entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly. He knew that His life was not ending in defeat but passing through death into resurrection. The same Lord knows every one of His works from the beginning. He knows the outcome of your struggle and the number of your days. So let your deepest confidence be fixed there. Whether you are healed in this moment or called to wait, your hope is anchored in the God who raises the dead. Live each day ready to speak of what He has done for you in Christ, the greatest work of all, and leave the rest with Him.
