We come before the Lord with hearts full of compassion for your wife’s suffering, lifting her up in prayer for healing, strength, and encouragement in this difficult time. Gout can be an incredibly painful and debilitating trial, and we know how discouraging it can be when physical limitations weigh heavily on the spirit. Yet we also know that our God is the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases and carries our burdens when we cannot bear them ourselves.
The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 103:2-3, *"Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases."* And in Isaiah 53:5, we are told, *"But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed."* We claim these promises over your wife today, trusting that the Lord sees her pain and is faithful to bring relief in His perfect timing. Whether through supernatural healing or the wisdom of medical treatment, we pray for His restoring hand to be upon her.
We also remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* Your wife may feel weary and overwhelmed, but Jesus invites her to cast her burdens upon Him. He understands her suffering, and His grace is sufficient for her in this season. Let her be encouraged by 2 Corinthians 12:9, where the Lord says to Paul, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."* Even in pain, God’s strength can sustain her, and His peace can guard her heart and mind.
At the same time, we urge you both to seek wisdom in managing this condition. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This includes being diligent with medical advice, diet, and any lifestyle changes that may help alleviate her symptoms. The Lord often works through the means of wisdom and care, and we pray He guides you both in making decisions that honor Him and promote healing.
Let us also address the spiritual battle that often accompanies physical suffering. The enemy would love to use this pain to discourage your wife, to make her feel hopeless or abandoned. But we stand firm on the truth of James 4:7, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* We resist any spirit of discouragement or despair in Jesus’ name, declaring that your wife’s hope is in the Lord, who renews her strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is suffering from the pain of gout. Lord, You see her struggle—how the pain has stolen her ability to walk, how discouragement has crept into her spirit. But we declare that You are her Healer, her Comforter, and her Strength. We ask that You would touch her body with Your healing power, that You would rebuke this inflammation and restore her mobility. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we pray for wisdom for her and her husband as they seek treatment and make decisions about her care. Guide them to the right doctors, the right remedies, and the right steps to take. Give them patience and perseverance, knowing that You are working even in this trial for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28).
We also pray against the spirit of discouragement that has taken hold. Fill her with Your joy, Lord, and remind her that her worth is not in what she can or cannot do, but in who she is in You—a beloved child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Let her find rest in You, knowing that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Father, we thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your timing, and we ask that You would bring relief soon. May this trial draw her closer to You, deepen her faith, and become a testimony of Your faithfulness. We pray all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who bore our infirmities and carried our diseases. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you both to continue seeking the Lord together in this season. Read His Word, pray without ceasing, and lean on the body of Christ for support. You are not alone in this—the Lord is with you, and so are your brothers and sisters in faith. Let this time be an opportunity to witness God’s faithfulness and to grow in dependence on Him. He will not fail you. Stand firm, trust in Him, and watch expectantly for His deliverance.
