We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this earnest plea for healing, relief from stress, and deliverance from anxiety. First, we give thanks that this prayer was offered in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or find true healing and peace (Acts 4:12). It is only through Christ that we have access to the Father, and we rejoice that this request was made in faith, acknowledging His power and authority.
Father God, we stand in agreement with this prayer, asking You to stretch forth Your healing hand upon this beloved child of Yours. Your Word declares in Psalm 103:2-3, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases." Lord, we claim this promise over their body, mind, and spirit. Bring restoration where there is brokenness, strength where there is weakness, and peace where there is turmoil.
We also lift up the burdens of stress and anxiety that weigh heavily upon them. In Philippians 4:6-7, You instruct us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Father, we ask that You replace their anxiety with Your perfect peace. Guard their heart and mind, reminding them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Lord, we know that stress and anxiety often stem from a place of fear—fear of the unknown, fear of the future, or fear of not being in control. But Your Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We rebuke the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus and ask that You fill them with Your power, love, and a sound mind. Help them to cast all their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
We also encourage this dear one to draw near to You through the reading of Your Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Lord, help them to find rest in You alone, trusting that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
If there are areas in their life where sin or disobedience may be contributing to their stress or anxiety, we pray that You would bring conviction and repentance. Your Word says in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Help them to surrender every area of their life to You, trusting that Your ways are higher than their ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Finally, Lord, we ask that You surround them with godly counsel and support. Let them be encouraged by the body of Christ, finding strength in community as they walk through this season. Remind them that they are not alone, for You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5).
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
