Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so openly. Your burden for your husband, your father, your brother, and your whole household is heard, and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord.
The heaviness you describe in your husband, the long years of serious medical trouble, the deep emotional pain that makes him say he wants to die, the extreme anger and the sense of spiritual attack, shows how deeply body, mind and spirit are connected. Scripture shows that the same spiritual sickness that brought destruction long ago is still at work when hearts turn from God, and there is no other remedy except the cure God Himself provides. That cure is found only in Jesus Christ. Apart from Him there is no healing for the soul and no lasting hope, but in Him there is forgiveness, new life and power to be made whole.
There is power in the name of Jesus to heal. When Peter was asked how the lame man was made well, he answered that it was by the name of Jesus that the man stood whole before them. We pray for that same power to touch your husband physically, spiritually and emotionally according to God's will. We ask the Lord to lift the darkness and anger, to guard his mind, to bring peace where there is turmoil, and to break the spiritual oppression that weighs on him. If he speaks often of wanting to be dead, please do not leave him alone in that despair. Reach out right away for help from a trusted pastor, counselor and his medical providers, and stay close to him with loving support while you continue to pray.
We also pray that he will be given grace to be faithful in caring for the body God has given him, including taking his medications as prescribed and following medical guidance. We ask God to give wisdom to his doctors and for His hand to be upon the implant, that it would work successfully if it is in accordance with His will, and that any procedure would bring relief and strength.
Your marriage is a covenant before God, a vow to walk together before Him for life. It is fitting that the first and continual activity of a husband and wife should be spiritual, seeking the Lord together. Even when one partner is weak and struggling, God honors that covenant and hears the prayers offered for one another. Keep bringing your husband before the throne of grace, asking the Holy Spirit to intervene, to soften his heart, to draw him to salvation and to renew his spirit.
We are also lifting up your elderly father and your younger brother for health and strength, asking God to sustain them and to meet their needs. We pray for your finances, that God who knows every need would provide and give wisdom for each decision. Above all we pray for salvation for each of you, that every member of your family would put their trust in Jesus alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we come to You for this family. We ask for Your mercy and healing upon this husband in body, mind and spirit. Touch his illness, calm his anger, lift the desire for death and replace it with hope in Christ. Deliver him from the enemy's attack and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him willingness to receive care and to follow his treatment, and bless the work of his doctors and the implant to help him. Touch the father and brother with health and comfort. Provide for this household financially and draw each one to salvation through Jesus. Let Your Holy Spirit intervene now and bring peace, healing and new life. We ask this in the powerful name of Jesus, amen.
Please keep seeking the Lord daily in His Word and prayer, stay connected to faithful believers who can walk with you, and continue to get medical and pastoral support for your husband's safety and care. God is near to the brokenhearted and He hears those who call on Him through Christ.
