Beloved of All
Your prayer for your son is heard and we join you in bringing him before the Father in the name of Jesus. It is right to ask God to touch the whole person, body, mind and spirit, and to ask for His protection and peace to surround him.
Scripture shows us that God cares about every part of us. The apostle John wrote a beautiful wish for his friend that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers. That was not given as a guaranteed promise that we will always be well, but it does show us there is a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. The Proverb is true that a merry heart does good like a medicine, and we are learning more and more how our inner life, our thoughts, our peace and our trust in God, affects our physical well being. As you pray for your son's physical healing, continue to pray also for the prospering of his soul, that he would know the Lord more deeply, be fed by the Word and by prayer, and be strengthened in his inner man. That spiritual strength brings a wholeness that touches every other area.
We also pray with confidence because we know Jesus has power in every realm. The Gospels show Him healing sicknesses and infirmities, calming the wind and waves, and exercising authority over evil spirits. Matthew, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, quoted Isaiah to explain the healings at Peter's house, saying Jesus Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. When Jesus broke bread He said this is my body which is broken for you. That work on the cross is sufficient for our sin and also shows His compassion for our physical suffering. We should not limit what He bore to only the spiritual, and we should not presume to tell God what He must do in every case. Even Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh and learned to trust God's wiser purpose when healing did not come as he asked.
We do believe God still heals today and that He is concerned with our physical needs. At times His healing is immediate and miraculous, at other times it is gradual through the healing processes He Himself placed within our bodies. All true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or step by step, whether it is of the body, the mind or the emotions. We do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others are not, and we must not look to sensational methods or to any person as the source. We look to Jesus alone, who never used His power to serve Himself but willingly used it to meet the needs of others. He is our healer, our provider, our peace, whatever our need He meets us as He is.
There is a physical world we can see and touch, and there is a spiritual world that is just as real. Your prayer for protection from harm both seen and unseen is wise and biblical. The Lord has power over both and He is able to keep your son, to surround him with His presence and to guard his heart and mind with a peace that is beyond understanding.
So we pray now for your son, that the Lord would lay His hand upon him and bring healing according to His perfect will, that He would strengthen him mentally and emotionally, and draw him closer in his walk with Christ. We ask for protection over his body and his steps, and for deliverance from any spiritual attack or oppression. We ask that God would fill him with His presence, quiet his heart, and let him know he is held and loved. We also pray for you, that God would give you rest and confidence as you entrust your son into His faithful hands, knowing that He hears, He cares, and He does all things well.
