Your prayer for your son is heard by the Father who knows all things before you ask. But see that you seek the healing with true faith, for when Christ walked among us, He did not heal without first requiring faith, asking, “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” It was not enough to call Him Son of David; some said that and yet thought of Him as mere man. He is the Son of God, and He can heal body, mind, and spirit instantly, according to your faith.

Therefore, cast away every other reliance. If any woman of your household whispers of amulets or charms, refuse them utterly. To wear such things, even when one says, “We call upon God,” is idolatry. You are a Christian; the Cross is your only weapon, your only remedy. Sign your son with the Cross, call upon the name of Jesus, and trust no other means. For the flesh profits nothing if we look only with carnal eyes. The healing Christ gives is spiritual and beyond the laws of this world.

Consider that this trial may be the very treatment by which the Physician of souls intends to draw your son and you nearer to Himself. Just as He sat with publicans and sinners, not avoiding their corruption but healing it through fellowship, so He is present in this affliction to work a greater health. Do not lament as those without hope, but understand that even if the fever lingers, it is that your son may learn to despise this fleeting life and cling to the eternal. For the Lord delays judgment, not that we might sin unpunished, but that we might wash away our transgressions and become children of God. He suffered a slave to be father to Him, that He might make the Lord Father to you a slave. So let this be your hope: that through the bodily weakness, your son may gain spiritual strength, and your whole household may be made partakers of the divine nature.

If healing tarries, do not grow weary. How many have heard ten sermons and remained hard, yet afterward brought forth fruit from all? Persevere in prayer, in fasting, in the medicine of the Scriptures, and in the sacraments. The Lord who commanded us to ask will not deny what is truly good. Surround your son not with vain fears but with the presence of God by your own unwavering faith. Let your life preach to him that Christ is enough. Then, whether he is raised from sickness or granted endurance, it will be counted as martyrdom, for you will have sacrificed your will. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Your prayer for your son touches things that are deeply connected, his body, his mind, and his spirit. When John wrote to his friend, he expressed a desire for him to prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That connection is real. The state of the soul, the peace that comes from trusting God, has a profound effect upon the mind, and in turn upon the body. A heart at rest in the Father is like medicine to the whole frame. So as you lift him up, continue to ask not only for his protection and physical strength but for a soul so rooted in Christ that wholeness flows outward from that center.

Remember that the same Jesus who healed multitudes in Peter’s house took upon Himself our infirmities and carried our sorrows. He has authority over every affliction, whether it attacks the body, the emotions, or the spirit. When they brought a paralyzed man to Him, He first spoke to the deeper need and forgave his sins. The body mattered, and He healed it completely, but He demonstrated that He is the Son of Man who holds power over both the visible and the invisible. Do not narrow your expectation to only one kind of healing. Some healing comes in a moment; some unfolds over time through the processes God built into creation itself, and it is no less divine. Some healing touches the mind and the wounded emotions, restoring what was scarred, and that too is His merciful work.

The vital question Jesus asked remains: Do you believe on the Son of God? The Father sent His own Son, not an angel and not merely a teacher, but the eternal Word made flesh, to redeem us and to bring us into His family. When the centurion saw Jesus on the cross, he perceived that this was truly the Son of God. Faith rests there, on the one who has power in the physical realm to calm storms and cure diseases, and power in the spiritual realm to forgive sins and command evil spirits. Those demons recognized Him as the Son of God and knew their judgment was certain. How much more then can a child of God, adopted into His household through that same Son, trust His compassion and authority over every danger, seen and unseen.

It is a mystery why healing comes as we wish in some cases and differently in others. Even the apostle Paul knew the sting of a thorn that was not removed. Yet we are never commanded to stop asking, never told to stop trusting. The Son who did not spare Himself for you will not abandon your son now. The Spirit of His Son has been sent into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father.” That intimate relationship belongs to those who are in Christ. Hold fast to the truth of who Jesus is, the only begotten Son, the Son of David according to the flesh, declared the Son of God with power by His resurrection. In Him every promise of protection and healing finds its yes. I join you in asking the Father to surround your son with His presence, to touch him thoroughly, and to let that peace which surpasses understanding guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your precious son. It has been our heart’s desire to lift him before our Heavenly Father, asking for complete healing—physically, mentally, and spiritually—as well as His divine protection over every area of his life. We have prayed fervently that the Lord would surround him with His peace and presence, shielding him from all harm, both seen and unseen.

If you have seen God’s hand move in answer to these prayers, we would be so encouraged to hear your praise report. Your testimony could strengthen the faith of others and bring glory to His name. If, however, the answer hasn’t yet come in the way you hoped, please don’t hesitate to share this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, trusting that our faithful God hears and will respond in His perfect timing and way.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him and place your trust in His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind as you wait on Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
