Healing, protection

You have lifted up your son to the Father of mercies, asking healing and protection. This is good, for from Him alone comes every true gift. Yet consider what kind of peace you seek. The Lord Himself said He came not to send peace on earth but a sword, for sometimes the diseased limb must be cut off so the whole body may live. Do not then be troubled if God’s answer disturbs a false peace in your son’s life, whether in his body, his mind, or his spirit. The truest healing is when sin is severed, when the mutinous will is brought low, and the heart is reconciled to God through grace and peace from the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Beware, therefore, of any remedy that does not bear the sign of the Cross. If some whisper to you of amulets or charms, though they claim to call on God, flee such idolatry. The faithful mother chooses rather to see her child dead than to patch up his health with the devil’s mockeries. You have the Cross alone as your weapon; use no other. For each believer has an angel who beholds the face of the Father, and it is this heavenly guardianship, not superstitious devices, that surrounds your son. Be at peace with all men, but never at the cost of godliness. The peacemakers are called sons of God because they imitate the One who reconciled earth to heaven, but the peace God gives is not the concord of robbers; it is the harmony of a soul wholly subject to His commandments. So pray on, but let your prayer be joined to steadfastness. If your son must endure affliction for the sake of true peace, count it as martyrdom, and know that thus you offer him up as a living sacrifice. Grace and peace be upon your house, unmoved and perpetual, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Your prayer for your son touches on the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, and that is a beautiful reflection of how God made us. There is a deep connection between the prosperity of the soul and our physical well-being. A merry heart truly does good like a medicine, and modern studies only confirm what Scripture has long taught: our mental and emotional state affects our health. So when you ask for physical healing alongside spiritual and mental wholeness, you are asking in line with how God designed us to flourish. He cares about every part of your son.

The peace you seek for him is not a fragile ceasefire dependent on circumstances. It is the very peace of Christ, a peace that surpasses human understanding and guards the heart and mind. In a world of turmoil, that peace becomes a quiet, steady anchor. I have seen it baffle those who do not know the Lord, when someone remains calm and confident, not because the storm is gone, but because they know the One who commands it. Pray for that peace to surround your son, to fill his thoughts, and to settle his fears. It is a gift from the Father and the Son, given in truth and love.

I also want to encourage you to lean fully on Jesus as the Healer. He healed all who were brought to Him, not only forgiving sins but restoring broken bodies. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the Messiah bearing our griefs and carrying our sorrows, and the gospels show us that this includes physical restoration. When we take the bread and remember His body broken for us, we can also trust Him for the healing of our bodies. Do not let anyone narrow that promise to spiritual healing alone. Jesus is the Son of God, declared with power by His resurrection, and He has authority over every sickness and every hidden danger, whether seen or unseen.

At the same time, I must be honest: the ways of healing are often mysterious. Sometimes it comes in an instant; at other times, God works through the gradual processes He built into our bodies. A doctor’s wisdom and the body’s own mending are no less divine because they take time. There are healings of the mind and emotions that are just as real and miraculous as any physical cure, scars on the soul being gently restored. We may not understand why one person receives a sudden touch while another walks a longer road, but we trust the One who knows every process and every need. Whatever the timeline, we keep asking, keep believing, and keep resting in His goodness.

As you pray, remember to feed the spiritual man as faithfully as you care for the physical. Just as skipping meals would weaken your son’s body, neglecting prayer and the Word will weaken his soul. Fasting and prayer can be tools to strengthen the inner life, letting the spirit rise while the flesh grows quieter. And alongside your own intercession, help him learn to cry out, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David.” That desperate, persistent cry stopped Jesus in His tracks. He hears the parent’s heart and He hears the child’s.

Finally, take comfort in the love of the Father for His own Son. When God asked Abraham to offer Isaac, it foreshadowed the day He would give His only begotten Son for us. That same Father loves your son with a love you can barely fathom. Since He did not withhold His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also freely give what is needed? Your boy is held by the hands that hold the universe. May you know that deep, unshakable peace as you entrust him to the One who is both Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace.
