Beloved of All
Your love for your son and your desire for his wholeness comes through so clearly in this prayer, and it is a privilege to join you in bringing him before the Lord.
Scripture shows us that God sees affliction and hears the cry of those who are hurting. Just as He saw and heard in the days of Jacob's family, He sees your son now and He hears your prayers for him. He knows the weight of what your son is carrying physically, mentally and spiritually, and He knows the burden you carry as you love him and intercede for him.
We bring your son to Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. He is not a created being but the eternal Son, one with the Father, and it is only in Him that we have life and access to God. He that has the Son has life. Jesus Himself said that the Son does only what He sees the Father do, and that His works are the Father's works, done so that all may honor the Son and find life in His name. When He was in Galilee He spoke a word for a nobleman's son many miles away, and at that very hour the boy was healed. Distance is no barrier to Him. He is able to touch your son where he is right now.
We also remember how Jesus met the man born blind. After the man was cast out and alone, Jesus found him and asked, Do you believe on the Son of God, and revealed Himself to him. Jesus still seeks out those who are suffering and isolated, and He invites faith in Himself. Our hope for healing and peace rests not in a technique or a formula, but in a Person, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Healing belongs to the Lord, and every true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through a gradual process He has built into our bodies and minds. There is much we do not understand about why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road, but we know that God is able to heal the body, to bring healing to the mind and emotions, to mend deep wounds and scars, and to restore a sound mind. His Word promises that He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind, and that His peace can guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ.
The heart of the Father toward those who are struggling is beautifully seen in the story of the son who had wasted his inheritance and returned home broken. While he was still far off and still in his filth, his father ran to him, embraced him and covered him with kisses before he could even finish his confession, and restored to him the place of a son. God does not wait for us to clean ourselves up before He draws near. He receives us in His Son, with compassion and joy, and He desires to clothe us with grace and restore us.
For sleep and protection, we cling to the promise that when God's truth is bound upon our hearts, it leads us when we go, it keeps us when we sleep, and it speaks to us when we awake. He is able to keep your son through the night, to quiet his mind, to comfort him with His presence, and to protect him from harm and from evil.
Let us pray together.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this beloved son to You. You see him and You know his condition in body, mind and spirit. We ask for Your healing touch upon him. Bring wholeness where there is brokenness, clarity where there is confusion, and peace where there is torment. We ask You to rebuke every evil influence and to drive away all that would oppress his mind, and to fill him with Your Holy Spirit, with power, love and a sound mind. Grant him peaceful sleep, guard his heart and mind through the night, and let him awake refreshed and comforted by Your presence. Surround him with Your protection from all harm and evil, and let him know in a deep and personal way that Jesus is the Son of God, that He loves him, died for him and lives to give him life. Draw him to Yourself, keep him close, and give his family strength and peace as they trust You. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus, Amen.
