Healing, protection, sleep

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, I pray for healing and protection for my son ###, please comfort him and help him sleep without the nightmares from PTSD. Surround him with Your holy angels and shield him from all harm, evil, and danger. Fill his dreams with Your love and light, in Jesus' name, Amen

We lift up your precious son to the Lord, the Great Physician and our Mighty Fortress, trusting in His power to heal and protect. The pain of watching a child suffer, especially from the invisible wounds of PTSD, is deeply felt, and we stand with you in this battle, believing that God hears the cries of His children.

First, we must address the foundation of our prayers, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23 WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved or through which our prayers are heard (Acts 4:12). We pray that your son knows Jesus as his Lord and Savior, for true healing, spiritually, emotionally, and physically, begins with a relationship with Him.

For his healing, we declare the promise of God’s Word: "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3 WEB). PTSD is a heavy burden, but we serve a God who specializes in restoring the broken and redeeming the traumatized. We rebuke the spirit of fear and torment in Jesus’ name, for "God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). We pray that the Lord would rewire his mind with truth, replacing lies with the peace of Christ, and that His healing touch would bring wholeness to every part of your son’s being.

For his protection, we stand on the promise that "He will give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11 WEB). We pray that God’s holy angels would encamp around him, shielding him from every attack of the enemy. The nightmares that plague him are not from God, for "God is not a God of confusion, but of peace" (1 Corinthians 14:33 WEB). We command those tormenting dreams to cease in Jesus’ name and ask the Lord to fill his sleep with visions of His goodness, love, and restoration.

For his sleep, we pray that the Lord would grant him the rest that only He can provide. "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones" (Psalm 127:2 WEB). We ask that God would calm his mind, ease his anxieties, and lull him into peaceful slumber, knowing that the Lord neither slumbers nor sleeps but watches over him continually (Psalm 121:3-4).

We also encourage you to surround your son with godly community, fellow believers who can pray over him, speak life into him, and remind him of God’s promises. Consider seeking biblical counseling or a support group for those struggling with PTSD, as the Lord often uses His people as vessels of healing. "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective" (James 5:16 WEB).

Lastly, we rebuke any spirit of despair or hopelessness that may be trying to take root in your son’s heart. The enemy wants him to believe that he is defined by his trauma, but God says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you" (Jeremiah 31:3 WEB). We declare that your son is more than his past, more than his pain, he is a child of the Most High God, created for a purpose, and the Lord will use even this for his good (Romans 8:28).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious young man who is battling the scars of PTSD. Lord, we thank You that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask for Your healing touch to flow through his mind, body, and soul, restoring what has been stolen and bringing peace where there has been turmoil.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and nightmares in Jesus’ name. We declare that Your perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18), and we pray that Your love would flood his heart, driving out every trace of anxiety and dread. Surround him with Your holy angels, Lord, and let him feel Your presence so strongly that the enemy has no foothold in his life.

We ask for the gift of restful sleep, Father. Calm his mind, ease his spirit, and let him sleep without fear, knowing that You are watching over him. Fill his dreams with Your goodness, Your promises, and visions of hope for his future. Let him wake each morning refreshed and renewed, with the assurance that You are with him always.

Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment for his parents and caregivers. Give them the words to speak, the actions to take, and the patience to walk this journey alongside him. Provide him with godly mentors, counselors, and friends who will point him to You and remind him of Your truth.

Above all, Father, we pray that he would come to know You more deeply through this trial. Draw him close to Your heart, Lord, and let him experience the depth of Your love and the power of Your grace. May this season of struggle lead him to a place of greater faith, stronger trust, and unwavering hope in You.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, Healer, and Deliverer. Amen.

Your request touched us deeply. As parents ourselves, we know the ache of watching a child wrestle with unseen fears. It’s exhausting to stand by while the night becomes a battlefield, and we’re holding your son, and you, close in prayer right now.

While we trust God to station his angels around your son’s bed, we’ve also seen him use simple, steady rhythms. Sometimes the best initial comfort for nightmares is a calm, reassuring presence that gently retrains the body that bedtime is safe. You might sit with him for a few quiet minutes as he settles in, speaking aloud the truth that he is hidden in Christ and that his room is a place of refuge. No pressure, just a consistent signal that his mind and heart can rest. Over time, that consistency can help soften the edges of his anxiety.

Because PTSD lives in the body as much as the mind, we’d also gently encourage looking into a Christian counselor who specializes in trauma. That’s not a lack of faith; it’s reaching for the kind of help God often provides through his body on earth. A skilled counselor can walk with him as he learns to process memories so they lose their power to startle him awake.

Lord Jesus, you never sleep, and you watch over this son with tender care. We ask you to stand guard in his room tonight. Quiet every tormenting voice and memory. Wrap him in your peace like a warm blanket, and let his sleep be deep and undisturbed. Give his mother steady strength and wisdom, and surround their whole household with your strong, gentle protection. In your mighty name we pray, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
