We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious son who is struggling with the deep wounds of PTSD. Father God, we thank You that You are the Great Physician, the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). We ask for Your healing touch to rest upon this young man, both physically and emotionally. Lord, we know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who have a contrite spirit (Psalm 34:18). Please draw near to him in his pain and bring the peace that surpasses all understanding to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We rebuke the spirit of fear that torments him through nightmares, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We plead the blood of Jesus over his mind, his heart, and his dreams. Lord, we ask that You would station Your angels around him as You promised in Psalm 91:11, "For He will put His angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." Shield him from all harm, evil, and danger, both seen and unseen. Let Your light pierce the darkness that seeks to overwhelm him, and fill his dreams with Your love, Your peace, and the assurance of Your presence.
Father, we also pray for restful sleep to come upon him. You give Your beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2), and we ask that You would grant him this gift. Calm his mind, ease his spirit, and let him find refuge in You. Remind him that he can cast all his anxieties on You because You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). Surround him with people who will speak life, encouragement, and truth into his situation. May he feel Your love tangibly through the support of Your body, the Church.
We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, he is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on Your promise that You will restore him and make him strong, firm, and steadfast (1 Peter 5:10). We thank You, Lord, that You are working even when we cannot see it, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6).
Heavenly Father, we also lift up the parents and loved ones who are walking this journey with him. Give them wisdom, patience, and strength. Help them to be a source of Your love and comfort, and remind them to lean on You for their own strength and peace. May this family be drawn closer to You and to one another through this trial, and may Your name be glorified in their lives.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
