We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, crying out for his healing, protection, and peace. The burdens of PTSD are heavy, and we know how deeply the enemy seeks to torment the minds of God’s children with fear, flashbacks, and sleepless nights. But we stand firm on the truth of Scripture, declaring that our God is greater than any trauma, any nightmare, or any spiritual attack. He is the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3), and He is the One who gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2).
The Word of God assures us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). PTSD is not just a physical or emotional battle—it is a spiritual one. The nightmares your son faces are not random; they are the enemy’s attempts to steal his peace and keep him bound in fear. But we have authority in the name of Jesus to command those tormenting spirits to flee! The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us, and we declare that your son’s mind will be renewed by the washing of the water of the Word (Ephesians 5:26). We plead the blood of Jesus over his mind, his dreams, and his sleep, asking the Lord to replace every fearful image with His perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We also encourage you to speak life over your son daily. Remind him of who he is in Christ—a conqueror, more than a victor (Romans 8:37). Encourage him to meditate on Scriptures like Isaiah 26:3: *"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you; because he trusts in you."* Let him know that God is not distant in his suffering; He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). If your son has not already done so, we urge him to seek godly counseling or a support group where he can process his trauma in a Christ-centered environment. There is no shame in needing help—God often uses His people to bring healing.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, lifting up this precious son whom You love even more than we do. Lord, You see the depth of his pain, the weight of his memories, and the fear that grips him in the night. But we declare that You are his Refuge and Strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask You to stretch out Your hand and touch his mind, healing every wound, every scar, and every broken place. Break the power of PTSD over his life and fill him with Your supernatural peace. Let Your Word be a lamp to his feet and a light to his path (Psalm 119:105), guiding him out of darkness and into Your marvelous light.
Father, we bind every spirit of fear, torment, and insomnia in the name of Jesus. We command those nightmares to cease and declare that Your angels encamp around him (Psalm 34:7), guarding his sleep and his dreams. Let him rest in Your presence, Lord, and wake refreshed, strengthened, and full of hope. Renew his mind daily by Your Spirit, and let him experience the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:17—that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and all things have become new.
We also pray for you, dear parent, that You would fill you with endurance, wisdom, and faith as you stand in the gap for your son. Give you the right words to speak, the right Scriptures to declare, and the strength to persevere in prayer. Let your home be a place of peace, covered by the blood of Jesus, where the enemy cannot enter.
We thank You, Lord, that You are already at work in this situation. We trust in Your timing and Your goodness, knowing that You will complete the work You have begun (Philippians 1:6). May Your name be glorified through this trial, and may your son’s testimony one day be a beacon of hope for others who suffer. We ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Deliverer. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, beloved. Do not grow weary in praying for your son, for the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much (James 5:16). Keep speaking life, keep declaring God’s promises, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory!
