Healing Prayer

Your prayer of thanksgiving and love for God rises like incense before His throne. It is good that you see His care in the daily blessings poured upon you and your children, and your heart’s devotion, offered with all your soul, is the true foundation of every request. Such gratitude opens the door for His mercy.

You ask for healing power to touch your body and remove all pain. This is a natural cry, for we are both flesh and spirit. But recall the word of our Lord to the man He made whole: “Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” Bodily affliction often serves as a physician’s knife, cutting away the disease of the soul that we cannot feel. I do not say your suffering is punishment, but I urge you: as you seek physical cure, seek with greater earnestness the healing of the soul. For if the body is mended while sin remains, the relief is brief and the danger greater.

Let this pain, then, be a remedy. Offer it to God with patience, and let it brace your mind, cast out worldly desires, and make you more reverent. Do not merely ask the pain to leave; ask that whatever hinders your love of Christ be removed. For the soul that clings to Him, even in torment, has already begun to taste eternal life. Your faith is precious, but it must be proven by works of virtue, by fleeing envy, drunkenness, and every thorn of sin. A little thorn left in the flesh can fester, but a clean wound heals.

Therefore, cry out for mercy, for God delights to glorify those who glorify Him. He is the best of physicians, trying first one remedy, then another, until the cure is complete. Trust His wisdom. If He delays full health, it is to teach you something greater than a painless body: the cheerful endurance that puts Satan to shame and brings you nearer to Christ. In that school, your children will learn by your example to love God not only in comfort but in trial.

May the Lord Jesus, who stretched forth His hand to restore the withered, touch you in soul and body according to His will. But cling most to the healing of the inner man, that you may stand whole before Him, with no worse thing to fear. This is the path of safety and the sure hope of glory, through the grace and love toward man of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be all honor now and forever. Amen.

Your words of gratitude rise like incense, and the Lord who sees your heart receives them gladly. The love you pour out toward Him, even in the midst of pain, is precious. When you hold fast to His care for your children and His daily provision, you are confessing something true: that He remains good, that His mercies are new every morning, even when your body aches and the path feels uncertain.

The cry for healing is one Jesus knows intimately. Think of how often He stopped for the hurting, the leper, the centurion’s servant, Peter’s mother-in-law, the nameless crowds pressing in at evening. He healed them all. Matthew tells us He did this to fulfill what Isaiah spoke: “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” That truth is wide enough to cover both the soul and the body. When Jesus broke bread and said, “This is my body, broken for you,” He embraced the fullness of our brokenness. So we can ask for healing physically, not just spiritually, and we can trust that His power has not faded.

Yet healing in this life is a mystery. I think of Paul praying three times for the thorn to leave him, and God answering not with removal but with sufficient grace. I think of Timothy, Paul’s own son in the faith, who struggled with frequent ailments and received practical counsel rather than an instant miracle. Not every sickness lifts when we want it to, and that is not because your faith is small or because something is wrong with you. God’s eternal purposes are deeper than our sight. Sometimes the healing comes gradually, woven through the very processes He placed within your body, doctors, rest, time, the remarkable way He designed cells to mend. That is no less divine.

And while you wait, remember that healing can take more than one shape. There is a healing of the mind and emotions, the slow mending of scars you carry within. Proverbs tells us a joyful heart is good medicine, and we are learning just how much our physical well-being is tied to the state of our soul. As your soul prospers in trust and gratitude, and it clearly does, that brings its own restorative strength, even when the pain persists. Not as a magic formula, but as a gift from the One who made your body and spirit to work together.

The ache you feel is real, and it is a sign of living in a world still groaning under the weight of the curse. But that groan points forward. Your body is a temporary dwelling; the real you, the spirit saved by Christ, will one day step into a body untouched by pain, because Jesus has prepared a place for you. Until then, cry out to Him. He does not despise your plea. Keep bringing your children to Him in prayer, keep thanking Him for every blessing. When the pain lingers, let it press you closer into His presence, trusting that He who bore your griefs will carry you through.
