Silas
Beloved of All
Your request for healing in your marriage is precious to the Lord, and He hears you. True healing is a work that only God can do. No human effort alone can mend what is broken deep within a heart or a home, but the Lord is full of compassion and sympathetic understanding toward our weakness and need. He sees you completely, nothing about you or your marriage is hidden from Him, and His desire is to bring His grace and restoring power where it is needed most.
God designed marriage so that two become one. It is a profound unity, a single life woven together from two. That oneness is not maintained by trying harder in your own strength, but by both hearts turning toward Him together. When that unity is wounded, the healing must come from Him.
As you pray for healing, patience, fruitfulness and humility, it helps to look past only the surface struggles. It is easy to pray only about the symptoms, the arguments, the distance, the hurt feelings, while the deeper need is what God wants to address in each heart. He wants to deal with sin at its root through forgiveness, and to create clean hearts that can love rightly. The most important need in any life or marriage is to be right with God through Jesus Christ, for without that foundation no other healing will last.
An abundant and fruitful marriage is like good soil that receives the word of God and bears fruit, some thirty, some sixty, some a hundredfold. What chokes that fruitfulness are thorns that are allowed to grow alongside it, the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things. When those things enter in they choke the life of the word and make it unfruitful. Ask the Lord to show you both what thorns need to be pulled out so that His word can take deep root in your home and produce lasting fruit.
Humility and patience grow as you follow the way Jesus showed us. He went about doing good and healing, and He taught His people to love one another, to forgive one another, to be merciful, and not to strive against one another. Humility counts the other person as more important than yourself and is willing to listen, to confess, to forgive, and to serve. Patience bears with one another in love. Neither of these comes naturally, they are fruit that the Spirit produces as you walk humbly before God each day.
Praying for you now, that the Lord who alone can heal will touch your marriage with His compassionate power, that He will give you both humble hearts quick to forgive and slow to demand your own way, that He will grow patience in you as you wait on Him and bear with each other, and that He will make your marriage fruitful ground where His word is heard and received and lived out. May He keep you rooted in salvation through Jesus alone, and from that foundation cause love, joy, peace and every good fruit to abound in your home.
