Healing in mind and heart

Your request for healing of mind and heart has been heard, and I am praying for you. The pain of abuse and trauma leaves deep memories and wounds, and God sees what you have carried and cares for you with great compassion. He has not forgotten you, and His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, to bring you to a place of hope and restoration.

Scripture makes a distinction that is so important for you right now. First there is peace with God, which only comes through Jesus Christ. Through His blood He made peace between us and God, so that the war is over. When you turn your life to Jesus and receive His forgiveness, you are no longer running from God or fighting against Him, you belong to Him. That is the foundation for every other healing.

Then there is the peace of God, which guards and keeps your heart and mind. The Bible promises that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand this peace. Paul calls it the peace that passes all understanding, the peace that keeps your heart and mind in Christ. As you turn your thoughts toward the Lord and learn to rest your mind on Him, that peace begins to fill your heart. It does not depend on calm circumstances, but on knowing He will take care of you.

God also promises healing. The prophet Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows and that with His wounds we are healed, and the New Testament shows Jesus healing sickness, broken bodies, and troubled spirits. Healing belongs to the Lord, and He heals in different ways. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes it is a gradual process, and every true process of healing is from Him. He who created us also knows how to restore us. That includes the healing of the mind and emotions, the healing of scars and wounds that others have caused. He can bring His love and peace into the places where distressing memories still trouble you, and over time replace turmoil with wholeness.

The kingdom of God is described as righteousness and peace and joy. As God fills your heart with His righteousness through Christ, He brings His peace and joy to mark your life. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable and leads to peace, and when peace is sown, it brings a harvest of righteousness.

I am praying for you that you will know both of these gifts more deeply. May the Lord grant you peace with Him through Jesus, and may His perfect peace guard your mind and heart day by day. May He heal the hurt in your heart, quiet the distressing memories, and fill you with His love and peace that remains steady even when thoughts try to pull you back.

Father, I lift up this dear one to You who knows the pain of abuse and trauma. Thank You that through the blood of Jesus there is peace with You and forgiveness and restoration. I ask that You would pour out Your peace that passes understanding to keep this mind and heart. Keep this one in perfect peace as the mind is stayed on You. Bring healing to the memories and wounds, whether quickly or step by step by Your gracious process, and let Your love and peace fill the heart. Restore what has been broken and let there be deep, quiet rest in Christ. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
