Beloved of All
Your request for healing in your mind and heart has been heard, and I want you to know that God sees the pain you have carried from abuse and trauma and He cares deeply about the distressing memories that still trouble you.
The peace you are longing for is something God Himself wants to give you. Scripture shows that there are two parts to this peace. First there is peace with God, which only comes through Jesus Christ. Through His blood shed on the cross He made peace between us and God, forgiving our sins and ending the war that sin creates between us and Him. When that peace is established, then God can give you the second kind of peace, the peace of God within your heart and mind. That is the peace Jesus spoke of when He said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. It is the peace that goes beyond human understanding and guards the heart and mind.
The Lord promises to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. This is not something you can manufacture on your own while living in a world full of turmoil. It comes as you turn your mind toward Him and keep your eyes on Him. As you do, His peace begins to fill your heart. God says to those who are far off and to those who are near, peace, I will heal you. He is not holding back from you. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, to bring you to hope and healing, and He invites you to call upon Him and pray to Him, knowing He will listen.
Healing is also part of His work. The prophet Isaiah said that He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows and that with His wounds we are healed, and that truth covers not only the body but the deep wounds of the mind and emotions. Sometimes God heals instantly and sometimes He heals gradually, and both are truly His divine work. Even the slow, step by step restoration of a wounded mind and heart is God healing the scars that were left behind. He wants to ordain peace for you and to bring His restoring work into those places where memories still hurt.
The kingdom of God is marked by righteousness and peace and joy, and God wants you to live in that peace, to enjoy His love and joy as He fills your heart.
I am praying for you now that God will forgive and cleanse and draw you close through Jesus, that the war inside would be quieted, and that He would fill you with His love and His perfect peace. May He keep your mind as you keep it stayed on Him, guard your heart and thoughts in Christ, gently clear and calm the distressing memories, and bring deep healing to your heart. May you know that you are no longer alone or at war, but belonging to Him and held by Him, and may His peace that passes all understanding rest upon you and remain with you. In Jesus name, amen.
