I understand the helplessness that comes when someone you love is in pain, and that pain steals away their rest. A back injury, especially, seems to touch every movement, and the sleepless nights only sharpen the suffering. I recall a time when a knee injury left me unable to sleep, every small shift sent a fresh wave of agony through my body. So I have a deep sympathy for your son in this.
What I hold onto in such times is that the Lord knows His own. He calls His sheep by name; He knows exactly where your son is and exactly what he feels. Jesus demonstrated again and again that His works testify to who He is, the promised one who would open blind eyes and strengthen the lame. He has not changed. He still cares personally, still has power to restore.
And yet I must be honest: I do not understand all the mysteries of healing. I do not know why some are restored immediately and others walk a long, gradual path. What I do believe without wavering is that healing is for today, and that God is able. He established the very processes our bodies use to mend bone and tissue, and those processes are divine. Whether He speaks a word and the pain vanishes overnight, or He works through the skill of physicians and the slow knitting of the body, we can trust Him with the outcome. There is also a healing of the mind and spirit that often comes in the waiting, a quiet strength He supplies when sleep seems impossible.
We will pray with you for your son. We ask the Great Physician to touch his back, calm the inflammation, and ease the pain. We ask for the gift of restorative sleep, that his body may be renewed. And above all, we ask that in this trial, your son would know the Shepherd’s nearness, that he would not feel alone in the darkness. God’s work is always toward restoration. We entrust him to those merciful hands, confident that neither this injury nor the sleepless nights have escaped His notice.
