HEALING AND WISDOM

Your request for wisdom and healing has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

We pray that God will give you a wise and understanding heart, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. True wisdom is not the wisdom of this world which comes to nothing, but the wisdom of God which is hidden in Christ, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. We ask that He will make you both faithful and wise as a steward of all that He has entrusted to you, keeping what is His without waste and using it as He intends for His glory and for the good of others. To be faithful is to guard what the Master has given, and to be wise is to dispense it according to His will, and we pray He will grant you both.

We pray also that you will continue to seek Him with all your heart, to pour out your whole soul before Him in prayer, and to learn effectively in His Word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, and we pray that as you hear and receive His word not in a merely outward way but with the inward eyes of faith, it will take root and bear fruit. We pray that the word you have asked about will be fulfilled in your life, that as you walk with the wise you will become wise, and that God will place wise and faithful companions and teachers around you and keep you from deceit and folly, for virtue and the fear of God make a person truly understanding.

We also bring before the Lord your body for healing. We pray for your teeth and especially the upper wisdom tooth on the right, for your eyes, for the entire left leg and the left side of the pelvis, for the area in the upper part of the left leg, for the spot on the abdomen, and for your stomach, intestines and the whole gastrointestinal tract. We ask the Lord in His mercy to bring complete healing according to His will, to relieve pain, to restore what is damaged, and to give wisdom to those who care for you. We pray for full and lasting healing in the name of Jesus Christ, trusting that all good gifts come from Him who made both soul and body.

May the Lord grant you assurance in faith, growth in understanding, and strength to walk faithfully with Him day by day. We thank you for allowing us to pray with you and we continue to remember you before God.

Your desire for a wise and understanding heart is exactly what God delights to give, and it is encouraging to hear you ask for it so earnestly. Scripture presents wisdom as calling out in the streets, inviting everyone to come and receive. It is described as a person, and that picture points us to Jesus Christ Himself, for in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. To seek wisdom is to seek Him.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That is the starting place. Knowledge can give you facts, but wisdom is the ability to apply what you know in a way that honors God. That is why wisdom is called the principal thing, and why we are urged to get wisdom and with all our getting to get understanding. It is better than rubies or wealth or anything else we might desire, because it preserves and keeps the one who loves it. Like Solomon, who asked not for riches or honor but for an understanding heart to steward well what God had entrusted to him, when you ask for wisdom to be a faithful steward, you are praying according to God's heart, and He is pleased to answer.

True wisdom is not the wisdom of this world. The wisdom of the world is earthly and self focused and leads to envy and strife and confusion. The wisdom that comes from above is different and can be seen in a life. It is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, merciful, and full of good fruit. It does not boast, but shows itself in the way a person lives. As you walk with the wise, as that proverb you mentioned says, you will become wise, and the greatest way to walk with the wise is to walk with the Lord Himself through His Word and through prayer, pouring out your soul before Him and learning from Him daily.

That leads to your desire to seek Him with all your heart and to learn effectively in His Word. Prayer is not a way to make God do our will, but a way for God to accomplish His will in us. It begins with Him, as He puts His desires in our hearts, and we then bring those desires back to Him. When we come to Him as Father through Jesus Christ, we have the privilege of real communion with Him. He wants to become to you whatever you need. If you need wisdom, He becomes your wisdom. If you need healing, He is the Lord who heals.

We join with you in prayer for that healing. We have seen in Scripture and in the life of the church that Jesus healed the sick and the apostles prayed for the sick, and we are taught that the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise them up, and that the fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. We also know that God sometimes heals instantly, sometimes healing is a process over time, and sometimes His answer is to sustain us with grace that is sufficient and strength made perfect in weakness. In every case we trust His perfect wisdom and love, while we still come boldly and ask.

So we agree together with you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking the Father to give you a wise and understanding heart, to help you seek Him with your whole heart, to pour out your soul before Him, and to grow in the knowledge of His Word. And we ask Him to touch your body and bring complete healing according to His will, for your teeth and especially the upper wisdom tooth on the right, for your eyes, for your entire left leg and the left side of your pelvis, for the area in the upper left thigh and the spot on your abdomen, and for your stomach, intestines and entire gastrointestinal tract. May He grant you His peace, strengthen your faith as you wait on Him, and make His wisdom evident in your life by a pure and peaceable walk with Him.
