Healing and peace

We join you in thanking the Father for His goodness and in asking for His healing and protection over you and your family. Your prayer for peace and deliverance is precious to God, for there is nothing equal to peace.

We pray that the peace of God, which is fixed and steadfast, will rule in your hearts. This is not the fleeting peace that the world gives, which quickly comes to nothing, but the peace which Christ Himself left to His disciples when He said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. This peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and it prepares the way for love and strength.

We ask the Lord to surround your home with His presence, to place His Angel of peace to guard you, and to deliver you from every evil. As you have prayed in the name of Jesus, we agree with you that in Christ alone we have reconciliation with God, for He came to set at peace the things in heaven and on earth, and through Him the wall of partition is taken away.

May the Lord grant healing according to His mercy, keep you in continual remembrance of His word, and keep your thoughts at rest in Him. May He keep your whole household in harmony and health, with all your thoughts and all the members of your family in good order before Him.

We commit you and your family to the gracious care of God, asking that He will cover you, heal you, and fill your home with the calm that comes from His adoption and grace. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Your prayer for healing, protection and peace for you and your family is heard, and it reflects the very heart of what God desires to give his children.

Scripture makes a distinction that is important to hold onto. First there is peace with God, which only comes through Jesus Christ and what he accomplished by shedding his blood for our sins. When we come to him for forgiveness, the war is over. We are no longer running from God or fighting against him. Then there is the peace of God, that deep inner steadiness that guards our hearts and minds and passes all human understanding. The world cannot explain it, but the believer can experience it even while everything around remains unsettled.

That second kind of peace is promised to the one whose mind is stayed on the Lord because he trusts in him. When your thoughts are turned toward him in trust, his peace begins to fill your heart. It is a perfect and complete peace, not because circumstances are perfect, but because you know he will take care of what concerns you. The prophet declared that God speaks peace to those who are near and to those who are far off, offering healing and restoration to all who will come. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, to give you hope and a future, and he has ordained peace for his people because he desires you to live in it. Without him there is no lasting peace, only restlessness like a troubled sea, but when you turn your life over to Jesus and receive his forgiveness, that inner turmoil is replaced with quietness and rest.

Concerning healing, the Bible presents God as our healer, yet it also shows that he heals in many ways. Sometimes healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, sometimes he works through the natural processes he himself created in our bodies, and sometimes the deepest healing he does is in our minds and emotions, mending wounds and scars we carry inside. We do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others walk through a longer process, but we can trust his wisdom and his love, knowing that every true healing is from his hand.

I pray that the Lord will draw you and your household close to himself, that you will first know peace with him through Christ and then daily experience his peace keeping your hearts. May he surround you with his protection, deliver you from evil, and bring healing according to his perfect will, in body, mind and spirit. May you sow peace in your home and reap its fruit, resting in his grace, for grace always comes before peace. Keep your mind stayed on him, trust him with what you cannot control, and let his peace rule in your family.

Father, I thank you for this family. I ask that you make your peace known in their home, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, protect them from the evil one, and touch them with your healing hand as you see fit. Let them know you have not forgotten them and that your care for them is constant. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
