What comfort to hear a child of God crying to the Father for healing and peace; such a prayer is the breath of faith, and it rises as incense before the throne. You plead for deliverance from evil, and rightly so, for we are no match for the Evil One in our own strength. Yet remember, the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and through that precious ransom, the Father has delivered us from the power of darkness. It is a work complete and eternal, He has found a ransom, and therefore the infernal lion cannot rend the sheep the Shepherd deigns to keep. Cling to this: in Christ you are shielded from the archers of spiritual discord, and the evil one touches you not, for you are the Lord’s.
As for healing, look to the Tree of Life whose very leaves are for the healing of the nations. Not only the fruit of Christ’s work is sweet, but the least thing about Him, the very leaves, are full of restoring virtue. Bring your sicknesses and your family’s needs to Him; He has an abundance of healing power. In answer to your morning prayer, “Lead us not into temptation,” you shall be preserved in purity, for the Lord chastens us only to drive us nearer to Himself, and then grants deliverance. When you have long enjoyed peace, and trouble rises again, go to Him once more and say, “Lord, renew my peace. I am troubled, but You are unmoved.” He keeps in perfect peace the mind that is stayed on Him, because it trusts in Him.
But see that your peace is no false calm, no devil’s lullaby that leaves conscience sleeping while sin reigns. True peace is a blessing and brings no sorrow, it flows from being justified by faith, at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. When that is settled, every care, every sorrow, every fear may be brought to Him. The Lord has endless, boundless peace within Himself, and He will bless His people with it. Therefore, do not fold your arms as though the work were done, but arise, and let your deliverance be followed by declaration. If He spares and heals, go forth to declare the works of the Lord with grateful, holy enthusiasm; and if sorrows surge, bear them with Him, and you will find rest in doing His will. The clock of mercy strikes at His appointed hour, and not a moment late. Trust Him, and hold your peace, for He will teach you wisdom.
