Thank you for sharing your honest praise, that you will praise Him on the mountaintops and in the valleys. That is a genuine faith of the heart, not an empty confession. Real faith changes the way we live and the way we worship when the valley is deep. And your persistence in prayer since you first learned of this is right and good. Scripture shows us a mother in great distress who came to Jesus and would not leave until she received help. Her faith overcame even His silence and seeming reluctance, and Jesus answered her, great is your faith. That is a picture for you now. Keep coming to Jesus. Do not go away until you have poured out your heart to Him. He welcomes that kind of desperate, persevering coming.
There is a difference between a quiet belief that God is able to heal and an active trust that He hears you now as you bring your mom to Him. Often the Lord gives us a point to release that faith, like those who touched the hem of His garment and in that moment released their faith and were healed. Your continued asking, your bringing requests before others, your opening of Scripture, these can become points where passive belief becomes active trust. You are not trying to earn an answer, but you are actuating the faith you already have by placing it directly on Jesus. He said to many, your faith has made you whole, and He went about teaching and preaching and healing every kind of sickness among the people. He has power to heal, and it is right to ask Him for full healing for your mom.
At the same time the Word helps us keep a biblical balance about faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen, but the great chapter on faith also tells us that many died in faith. Being a person of faith does not mean we will always see healing or victory in the way we hope. Even those who trusted God deeply knew defeat and discouragement and death, and still they died trusting Him. That does not make faith a failure. It shows that faith ultimately rests not in a guaranteed outcome but in the Person of Jesus Christ. By grace we are saved through faith, and that same faith in Christ is counted as righteousness, just as Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness.
That is why peace comes in the order Scripture gives it, grace and then peace. You will not find settled peace by striving or by trying to hold yourself together. Peace comes as you rest in the grace of God, in what Christ has already done. The prophet said the chastisement for our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed. Some limit that to spiritual healing only, but the Gospels show Jesus healing bodies to confirm that His atonement is for the whole person. Yet we also know God in His wisdom may allow a physical healing now, or a sustaining grace through the illness, or an ultimate healing in His presence. In every case He remains good and in control, and He weeps with those He loves. When Jesus stood at the tomb of Lazarus He wept, even knowing He would raise him, because He feels the pain that lack of healing and death bring to the human heart. He feels your devastation and your mom's heavy heart.
So continue to feed your faith. The word of faith is near you, in your mouth and in your heart, and the Word of God is essential for faith to grow. As you study His promises, faith is increased. Guard your heart with diligence, keep your eyes on Jesus, and let your service and love for your mom flow from a willing heart, which the Lord loves.
We join you in prayer now. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this precious mother before You. You know her soft heart toward You and the years of faithfulness she has shown. We ask for Your healing touch upon her body, for wisdom for those caring for her, and for strength for each day. If it is Your will, we ask for complete healing from this stiff heart condition. Above all we ask for Your peace to guard her and her family. Let them know the grace of Christ in a deeper way so that Your peace, which passes understanding, will keep their hearts and minds. Help them to keep trusting You whether on the mountain or in the valley, knowing You are good and Your hands are stretched out still. Help their faith to remain active and alive, shown in continued obedience and love, until they see Your answer in Your perfect way and time. Amen.
