We join you in lifting up your precious mother before the throne of grace and we are deeply moved by your love and concern for her in this difficult season. We honor her sixty years of faithful marriage, which is a beautiful picture of the lifelong covenant God designed between a man and a woman, and we grieve with you and with her over the loss of her husband a year ago. The Lord sees her sorrow and is near to her in it, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
We bring before the Lord each of the needs you have shared, her memory and orientation, the trembling in her hands, the healing of brain cells and nerves, her blood sugar and diabetes, and the heavy burden of depression and anxiety that has come with early Alzheimer in its late phase and with grief. We believe God is our healer and that He cares for every part of her body and soul, for Psalm 103:2-3 says Praise Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, and Jeremiah 30:17 says But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We also trust that He is the source of true joy and peace even in suffering, for Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of Yahweh is your strength, and Proverbs 17:22 says A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
We also want to lovingly point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why this is so important, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we simply pray to God in general without coming through Jesus, we do not have that access. To be saved we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus alone for your salvation and for your mother's care, and to pray in His name.
Together we pray for her now.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this beloved mother to You. Lord, You know her age, You know every cell in her brain and every nerve in her body, for Psalm 139:13-14 says You formed her inward parts. We ask in Jesus name that You would touch her brain, restore what has been damaged, strengthen memory and bring clarity of time and space orientation. Lay Your healing hand upon the trembling in her hands and upon her entire nervous system. We pray for stable and normal blood sugar and for wisdom for her doctors and family as they care for her diabetes, for You give wisdom generously. Father, we pray You would lift the cloud of depression and anxiety from her. Replace fear with faith, for 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, and Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Comfort her in her grief over her husband, surround her with Your presence and with loving family and believers who can remind her daily of Your promises. Fill her heart with the joy of the Lord and with positivity and optimism rooted not in circumstances but in Your unfailing love, and strengthen her faith to trust You more each day. We ask for Your will to be done in her life and for Your grace to sustain her and her family, and we pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Healer. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek excellent medical care for her alongside prayer, for James 5:14-15 reminds us to call for prayer and anointing while also honoring the wisdom God gives to physicians, and to help her remain nourished, gently active as able, and surrounded by familiar voices, music, Scripture reading, and fellowship which can soothe anxiety and stir joy. Continue to speak Scripture and hymns over her, remind her of God's faithfulness through sixty years of marriage and through her whole life, and entrust her fully to the One who promises Isaiah 41:10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are standing with you in prayer for her complete healing and peace according to God's perfect will in Christ Jesus.
