We join together in lifting you up before the Lord, knowing that He is our Great Physician and the One who heals all our diseases. It is good that you are seeking healing, and we encourage you to always come boldly before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Scripture reminds us, *"Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need"* (Hebrews 4:16, WEB).
We notice that your prayer did not invoke the name of Jesus, and we gently remind you that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, nor is there any other way to approach the Father. Jesus Himself said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB). It is by His authority and His finished work on the cross that we can ask anything of the Father. So let us always pray in His name, trusting that He intercedes for us even now.
Your request for healing from this cough and runny nose is heard, and we stand with you in faith, asking the Lord to bring swift relief. The antibiotics you are taking are a provision from God, who often uses medicine as a means of healing, but we know that true and complete restoration comes from Him alone. As the Psalmist declares, *"Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there isn’t a word on my tongue, but behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether... For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well"* (Psalm 139:1-4, 13-14, WEB). He knows your discomfort, and He is able to bring healing in His perfect timing.
We also encourage you to trust in His sovereignty, even if the healing does not come as quickly as you hope. Sometimes, the Lord allows us to walk through trials to refine our faith and draw us closer to Him. As James reminds us, *"Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing"* (James 1:2-4, WEB). If this illness persists, ask the Lord to reveal what He may be teaching you through it, and lean on Him for strength.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is suffering from this persistent cough and runny nose. Lord, You are the God who heals, and we ask that You would touch their body with Your restoring power. Let these antibiotics work swiftly and effectively to bring relief, but above all, let Your healing virtue flow through them by the power of Your Spirit. Rebuke this sickness in the name of Jesus, and let no weapon formed against their health prosper.
We ask that You would grant them the strength to endure this trial without it hindering their day or their responsibilities. Cover them with Your peace, and let them feel Your presence near them as a comfort. If there is any purpose in this season of discomfort, reveal it to them, and let them grow closer to You through it. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Father, we also pray that You would guard their heart against impatience or frustration. Help them to trust in Your timing, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Let this time be a testimony of Your faithfulness, not just to them, but to those around them who may see Your hand at work in their life.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to heal, and we give You all the glory. May this brother/sister continue to seek You first in all things, and may their life be a light that points others to Your love and grace. In the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Stand firm in your faith, and do not waver in your trust in the Lord. He is with you, and He will see you through this. If the cough persists beyond what is reasonable, seek further medical attention, for the Lord often uses doctors and medicine as instruments of His healing. But above all, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. May He be glorified in your life, in both health and sickness.
