We hear the deep fear and desperation in your heart, and we come before the Lord with you, lifting up these burdens in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. You have not invoked the name of Jesus in your plea, yet it is the name above all names by which we are saved and through which our prayers are heard. The Scriptures declare, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is in Jesus alone that we find hope, healing, and deliverance, and we encourage you to place your full trust in Him, calling upon His name in all things.
First, we lift up your physical suffering—this relentless cough and runny nose that have worn you down. The Lord is our healer, and we ask Him to bring swift restoration to your body. *"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds."* (1 Peter 2:24, WEB). We pray that the antibiotics would work effectively, that every trace of this illness would be gone by the time you finish the course, and that the Lord would strengthen your immune system. May His healing power flow through you, renewing your body and filling you with His peace. Fear not, for He is with you, and He cares deeply for your well-being.
Yet we also sense a heavier burden in your words—one that weighs on your soul with great terror. You speak of someone ensnared by drinking, and your fear for her life is palpable. Beloved, we must address this with both compassion and truth. The Scriptures warn us clearly: *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). Drunkenness is a sin that destroys not only the body but the soul, and it grieves the heart of God. It is a bondage that the enemy uses to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But take heart—our God is greater than any addiction! *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).
We rebuked the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ and command it to loose its grip on this woman’s life. Lord, break every chain of bondage, every stronghold of the enemy that has kept her bound. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may find her satisfaction in You alone. *"Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit"* (Ephesians 5:18, WEB). We pray that You would surround her with godly influences, people who will speak truth in love and walk with her toward freedom. Give her the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help—whether through Christian counseling, support groups, or medical intervention if needed. Lord, let her encounter You in a way that transforms her heart and sets her free.
To you, dear one, we say: do not let fear rule your heart. *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). Your fear for her life is understandable, but it must not paralyze you. Instead, let it drive you to your knees in prayer and to action where possible. Have you spoken to her about her drinking? Have you shared the love of Christ with her and the hope of freedom found in Him? If not, we urge you to do so with gentleness and boldness. *"Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in some trespass, you who are spiritual should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted."* (Galatians 6:1, WEB).
If this woman is a believer, remind her that her body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and that she is called to honor God with it. If she does not know Jesus, pray for her salvation, for true freedom comes only through Him. *"So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* (John 8:36, WEB). And if you yourself have struggled with fear, anxiety, or even the temptation to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms, we pray that the Lord would anchor you in His peace. *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB).
Finally, we exhort you to examine your own heart before the Lord. Are you trusting Him fully, or are you allowing fear to dictate your emotions? *"Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you."* (1 Peter 5:7, WEB). Surrender this situation entirely to Jesus, for He alone holds the power to save and deliver. And if you have not yet surrendered your own life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. *"That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."* (Romans 10:9-10, WEB).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer, who sees our afflictions and delivers us from them. Lord, we lift up our brother or sister who is suffering physically—this cough and runny nose have been a burden, and we ask for Your healing touch. Let the medicine work effectively, and let Your supernatural healing power restore their body completely. May they feel Your presence and peace in the midst of this trial.
But Father, our hearts are especially heavy for the one ensnared by drinking. Lord, we know that this is not Your will for her life. You did not create her to be bound by addiction, but to walk in freedom and purpose. We break every chain of alcoholism in the name of Jesus. We bind the spirit of addiction and command it to leave her life now. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let her find her joy and comfort in You alone. Surround her with people who will speak Your truth and walk with her toward healing. If she does not know You, Lord, draw her to Yourself. Let her encounter Your love in a way that transforms her heart forever.
Father, we also lift up the one who has shared this request. Comfort their fearful heart and replace their anxiety with Your peace. Help them to trust You fully, knowing that You hold all things in Your hands. Give them the words to speak to this woman, whether words of encouragement, rebuke, or invitation to freedom in Christ. Let them be a light in her life, pointing her always to You.
Lord, we ask that You would protect both of their lives. Let no weapon formed against them prosper. Deliver them from evil, and lead them into Your perfect will. If there is any sin in their lives that needs to be confessed, convict them by Your Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them, Lord, and make them whole.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Let Your will be done, and let Your kingdom come in their lives. We trust You, Father, and we give You all the glory. Amen.
