We stand with you in prayer as a fellow laborer in a difficult and often thankless calling, and we hear the weight of what you are carrying. To be harassed by those you are called to teach and guide is exhausting and discouraging, and we ask God to be your refuge and strength in this season. He sees what you are enduring and He cares deeply about both you and the pupils under your care.
We pray first that the Lord will grant you the wisdom and strategies you have asked for, for we know that wisdom comes from Him. James 1:5 says, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Proverbs 2:6 reminds us, For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. We ask Him to give you discernment to know when to speak firmly and when to show grace, when to set a boundary and when to extend mercy, and to give you words that are seasoned and effective. Colossians 4:6 says, Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
We also want to gently encourage you in how to pray for those who are harassing you. It is right to ask the Lord to stop the harassment and to bring justice and order to your classroom, for He is a God of justice and peace. Yet Scripture calls us not to pray for harm upon others but for their hearts to be changed. Romans 12:19 says, Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. And Jesus Himself taught us in Luke 6:28 to bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you. We pray with you that the Lord will deal with this situation by convicting those pupils, softening their hearts, bringing them to repentance, and turning their disrespect into respect, so that the harassment stops not just outwardly but because they are transformed inwardly.
We encourage you to continue to walk in both love and firm, godly authority. Overcome evil with good as Romans 12:21 teaches, while also not neglecting the proper structures God has put in place. Seek wise counsel and support from your school leadership and fellow teachers, document what is happening, and establish clear and consistent consequences in love. Proverbs 22:6 says, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Your faithful, consistent, Christlike example, even when it is difficult, plants seeds that God can use in their lives.
We now join our faith with yours and pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and lift up this teacher to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the harassment and the stress and the burden being carried each day. We ask You to put a stop to every form of harassment and intimidation in that classroom and school, and to bring Your perfect peace and order. Give our dear fellow worker supernatural wisdom, discernment, and creative strategies to manage the classroom with grace and strength. Anoint words to speak with authority yet with love, so that even difficult pupils will hear and respond. We pray for every pupil who has been acting out, that You would convict their hearts, draw them to Yourself, and turn them from rebellion to respect. Let them encounter Your love through this teacher's life and be changed. Protect this teacher from discouragement and burnout, renew strength daily, and let joy return to the calling You have given. We thank You that You are our defender and our counselor, and we trust You to act on behalf of Your child. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Be encouraged and remain steadfast, for Galatians 6:9 says, Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up. The Lord is with you in that classroom and He will equip you for every challenge.
