We have read your request with deep care and we thank you for sharing so honestly about the long years of demonic harassment and the painful entanglement with people who have harmed you. We rejoice that God has given you insight into the open door of unforgiveness and into the way involvement in the new age gave place to the enemy in your life. The Scripture tells us Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil Eph 4:26-27 and If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. What you experienced in the new age was not harmless spirituality but fellowship with darkness, and God calls us to openly renounce and turn from it as many who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all Acts 19:19. We encourage you to continue to confess and renounce every specific new age practice, teaching and object before the Lord and to ask Him to cleanse every ground the enemy once claimed.
We also want to gently bring biblical clarity to the burden you are carrying about making peace. We understand your theory that reconciling with those who harassed you might close the door to harassment, and we honor your desire to obey God. Yet forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. God commands us to forgive from the heart, for if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matt 6:14-15. Forgiveness is your release of the debt to God and a closing of the enemy's foothold, and you can do that whether the other person repents or not. Reconciliation, however, requires repentance and trust on both sides and is not always possible or wise. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Rom 12:18 shows that peace depends in part on the other person's response. When you see that many of these people seem concerned only with public perception and not with a true personal rebuilding, and when you sense demonic influence and deception still at work in them, it is wisdom to pause and not force closeness. To try to rebuild intimacy without repentance can expose you again to harm and to spiritual pressure. The pressure you feel from others who seem blind or as if under a spell is also something to bring to the Lord for discernment, for we know our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Eph 6:12. People can indeed be influenced and deceived, especially those who are unsaved or under false teaching, and we are to speak the truth in love while keeping boundaries that protect our walk with Christ.
We noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and deliverance from darkness. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It was Jesus who disarmed the powers of darkness at the cross and He alone has authority to command demons to leave. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4 and He delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love Col 1:13. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord Rom 10:9, and to daily submit to Him and resist the enemy, for the promise is Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. We also encourage you to put on the whole armor of God each day Eph 6:11, to stay in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship, and we strongly affirm your desire to talk with your pastor and elders. God has given shepherds to help bear burdens, to pray with you, to exercise discernment, and to walk with you in both deliverance and wisdom about who and how to reconcile.
We are praying together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for this dear one who has endured years of harassment and spiritual oppression. Lord we ask You to cover them with the blood of Jesus and to shine Your light into every hidden place. We confess with them every involvement with the new age and every sin of unforgiveness, and we ask You to forgive and cleanse and to close every door that was opened to the enemy. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, to release every debt and to walk in freedom, even while You give them wisdom about reconciliation. Show them when to reach out and when to wait, when to speak and when to remain separate for protection, and guard them from pressure and manipulation. We ask You to break the power of every demonic harassment, to rebuke the spirits that have tormented and influenced, and to command them to leave in Jesus name and go to the place You appoint. Fill this dear one with Your peace that surpasses understanding, with courage and a sound mind, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Tim 1:7. Expose deception in those around them, save those who are unsaved, and deliver those under false teaching. Give their pastor and elders discernment, understanding and boldness to counsel and pray with clarity and to stand with them in spiritual battle. Keep them watchful, for the adversary walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, but help them to be steadfast in faith 1 Pet 5:8-9. We ask You to surround them with Your presence, to lead them step by step, and to let them know they are not alone. Let Your will be done and Your name be glorified in their deliverance and healing. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
