Good and Faithful Servant
I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment and have been trying to do so. Please pray for me about this. This is not going to be an easy or simple process as harmful things have been done on both my end and theirs and reaching out to reconcile has been nerve wrecking for me. There is also demonic activity involved affecting these people and causing them to behave out of the ordinary way they usually would in very evil ways in addition to some of them being unsaved/deceived by false teachings which could also impact how they respond to me. This has also caused concerns for me as I reach out. I am noticing that many of these people don't really actually seem as if they are trying to rebuild a relationship with me at a personal level apart from public perception. I'm also concerned because there are people in my life who under the influence of this same demonic activity were pressuring me to make peace with these people and they seem blind to the reality of the situation in multiple ways. It's like they're under some kind of spell. I really wish I had someone to talk to about this who could understand the kind of things happening here including the demonic activity. Maybe my pastor and elders might...Please pray. Please also pray that if I'm gaslighting myself by attributing these individuals' behavior to demons and not their true intentions, God would reveal it. Thank you.

We hear the weight of what you are carrying and we join with you in seeking the Lord for wisdom, protection, and clarity in Jesus' name. We thank God that He has already begun to open your eyes and bring you out of the darkness of the new age, for that path opens doors to deception and oppression that are forbidden by God. As it is written, there shall not be found among you anyone who uses divination, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or one who consults with a familiar spirit Deuteronomy 18:10-11. We praise God that He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love Colossians 1:13, and that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.

We also hear your insight about unforgiveness, and this aligns with Scripture. We are commanded to forgive as God also in Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32, and Jesus warns that if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:15. Unforgiveness can give the devil an opportunity, as it is written, do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and do not give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. We encourage you to continue to bring every hurt, every harmful thing done by them and by you, before the Lord in honest confession, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. Forgiveness in Christ is a choice of obedience that releases you from bondage, even when the other person has not repented.

At the same time we want to gently bring biblical balance to the idea of making peace as the key to ending harassment. Scripture says, if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. This shows that peace and reconciliation are not entirely within your control, and that reconciliation and restored relationship are not the same as forgiveness. Forgiveness is commanded and can be done before God even when the other person is absent or unrepentant, but true reconciliation requires repentance and truth from both sides. It is right to obey the Spirit's leading to pursue peace, but we must not be pressured by people, even well meaning people, to force a reconciliation that God is not leading or that would put you back under harassment or manipulation. We are to test the spirits, whether they are of God 1 John 4:1, and to ask God for wisdom, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. The fact that you feel pressured and sense a kind of spiritual blindness or spell over others is important to bring to the Lord, for the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving 2 Corinthians 4:4, and our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12.

We also hear your honest and humble question about whether you might be attributing to demons what is actually human intention, and we honor your desire for truth. Both can be true at once. People are responsible for their choices, and the enemy also schemes to exploit sin and deception, so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes 2 Corinthians 2:11. God is able to give you discernment to see what is of the flesh and what is spiritual influence, without you gaslighting yourself in either direction. Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you Matthew 5:44, and at the same time, be sober and self-controlled, for your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8.

We notice your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and deliverance from demonic oppression. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that God raised him from the dead, confessing him as Lord Romans 10:9, and calling upon his name alone for forgiveness, deliverance, and protection. It is in his name that we resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7, and in his name we are clothed with the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand Ephesians 6:11.

We also strongly affirm your desire to talk with your pastor and elders. Please do pursue that godly counsel quickly and do not walk through this alone. Bring them the full account, including your past involvement in the new age, the specific harassment, your steps toward forgiveness, and the pressure you feel from others. They can pray with you, help you renounce any remaining ties to the new age, help you set wise and safe boundaries, and help you discern when to reach out and when to step back for your protection.

We now pray together for you.

Father, we come before your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank you for drawing this dear one out of darkness and into your light. We thank you for revealing the need to forgive and we ask you to complete that work in the heart, helping to forgive fully as Christ has forgiven, and to release every root of bitterness. Lord, we renounce in Jesus' name every tie to the new age and every foothold given to the enemy, and we ask you to cleanse and seal this life by the blood of Jesus. We put on your armor and we resist the devil, commanding in Jesus' name that every harassing and deceiving spirit must leave and not return. Father, give clear discernment about these people and this harassment, show what is human responsibility and what is demonic influence, and expose any deception or self-deception. Show whether, when, and how to pursue peace with each person, and guard against pressure from others that is not from you. If reconciliation is not possible or not safe, grant peace to accept that while still walking in forgiveness and love. Protect from further harm, surround with your favor and your angels, and let your peace which surpasses all understanding guard the heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. We pray for those who have harassed and for those who are unsaved or deceived by false teaching, that you would open their eyes and bring them to salvation in Jesus. We pray for the pastor and elders, that you would give them wisdom, compassion, and spiritual discernment as they counsel. Lead step by step and let no weapon formed against this child of yours prosper. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our deliverer, amen.

We are grateful you shared this with us again, and we hear how heavy and tangled this has felt. Wanting to do what is right before God, feeling nervous about reaching out after real harm on both sides, and also feeling pressured by others around you while you are trying to sort what is spiritual and what is relational, that is a lot to carry at once.

It makes sense you are asking God to show you clearly if you are seeing things accurately. That humble willingness to be corrected is a good place to stay. One thing that may help as you keep praying is remembering that forgiveness in your own heart and rebuilding a relationship with someone are not the same thing. Forgiveness is the work God does in you to release resentment and the desire to get even. Reconciliation takes two willing people, safety, and honesty over time, and it is not always possible or wise even when forgiveness is happening.

Since you mentioned wishing you had someone who understands both the spiritual side and the relational side, we think your instinct to talk with your pastor and elders is a wise next step. Before you reach out further to those who have harmed you, would you consider pausing those contacts and inviting one trusted pastor or elder fully into the story, what has happened, what you have tried, the pressure you feel from others, and your questions about what is demonic and what may be human intent? Having that steady, in-person counsel can help you test what you are sensing and decide together what, if any, next contact is wise.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. Give them clear wisdom, protection, and peace as they seek You. Guard their heart from confusion and fear, heal the places still wounded, and lead them to safe, discerning counsel who will walk closely with them. Help them know Your nearness and direction step by step. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your letter has been read with deep and prayerful concern, and your burden has been carried before the throne of grace. To be harassed, to feel the strain of fear and confusion, and to know that an old path in the new age opened a door to the enemy, is a heavy trial indeed. Yet in all this there is reason for hope, for you have been led to see two great truths which are the hinges of peace, that there is forgiveness with God, and that deliverance is wholly of the Lord.

First, concerning forgiveness. You speak of unforgiveness that has given place to the harasser of your soul. Hear the word of the Lord, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. It is a divine forgiveness. Were all men to hiss at you and withhold their pardon, you could still enter heaven if you have His. It is a surprising forgiveness, so surprising that the Lord repeats, I, even I, as if to remove our doubting. It is a complete forgiveness. It is as when a debtor comes to his creditor and says, I have nothing to pay with, and the creditor forgives the debt absolutely, not in part but in whole, with an oblivion of all your debt. There is forgiveness, whatever your sins may have been, however you have sinned on your end as you confess. There is forgiveness now, at this moment, for the chief of sinners may have the chief of sinners forgiveness through Jesus Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. He not only forgave you at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and that forgiveness is eternal. Remember who it is that sends it. It is even He whom you have offended who says, There is forgiveness with Him.

Because you have received such manifest and outward forgiveness, you are now called to that joint stock business of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Your desire to make peace is therefore a gracious work, and the remembrance of your own deliverance out of bondage should make you merciful. Yet take care to understand what forgiveness requires and what it does not. Forgiveness from the heart before God is commanded of every Christian, but rebuilding trust and intimate fellowship is a further thing which requires wisdom, time, and evidence of repentance. To forgive is to release the debt into the hands of Christ who paid it. To reconcile is to walk together again, and that cannot be forced by pressure from others, nor should it be measured by public perception rather than by truth in the heart.

You write that you feel pressed by others to make peace, and that you fear they are blind to the reality, as if under a spell, and that those who harass you seem to care more for appearance than for a true mending of relationship. Here you need great caution and godly counsel. It is wise that your heart turns toward your pastor and elders. Go to them. Speak plainly to them of all you have written here, including the demonic activity and the confusion you feel. The Lord has set watchmen in His church for this very cause, that you should not be left to wrestle alone or to be driven by the urgency of others. A true peace within our borders is a gift of God, not a performance for men.

Concerning deliverance from demonic harassment, know this with certainty, that deliverance from sin and from the arch enemy is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. He brought them forth when the lamb was slain, and He brings His people forth still. You cannot by your own peacemaking appease the powers of darkness, for they are worse enemies than any earthly foe and require a greater salvation. That salvation is already found. God hath found a ransom. The King's own Son hath borne the penalty of all iniquities for those who trust Him, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished. Deborah sang of the overthrow of Israel's enemies, but we have a far richer theme, for we have been delivered from worse enemies by the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore look not to your efforts to make peace as the price of your freedom, but to Christ alone. Cry to Him, for His ear is not shut and His arm is not shortened.

You also ask for prayer that if you are mistaken in attributing these behaviors to demons rather than to the true intentions of men, God would reveal it. This is a humble and right prayer. The heart is deceitful, and the enemy loves confusion. Pray for a discerning spirit, that you may not excuse sin as mere spiritual attack, nor attribute to men what is of the devil, but may see things as God sees them. He can give you light to judge righteously and to act with both firmness and charity.

We will pray for you to this end. We will pray that the whisper, There is forgiveness, may drive away despair and the grim hobgoblins of fear from your soul, and that you may know the completeness of pardon in Christ. We will pray that the Lord who met Jacob at the brook Jabbok and turned the heart of Esau, so that he fell upon his brother's neck and kissed him, would in His own time and way deal with those who have harmed you, whether by softening their hearts or by hedging you from their harm. We will pray that you may have a clear deliverance attended with enrichment, that He will bring you forth not only out of harassment but with silver and gold, with deeper faith and stronger peace. We will pray that you may not be moved by pressure but led by wisdom, and that your pastor and elders may be given great understanding as you open your heart to them. And we will pray that all demonic influence may be rebuked by the power of the blood of the Lamb, and that you may stand in the certainty that there is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared and trusted.

Cast yourself wholly upon Christ, who is your forgiveness, your freedom, and your favor.
