We hear the weight of what you are carrying and we join with you in seeking the Lord for wisdom, protection, and clarity in Jesus' name. We thank God that He has already begun to open your eyes and bring you out of the darkness of the new age, for that path opens doors to deception and oppression that are forbidden by God. As it is written, there shall not be found among you anyone who uses divination, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or one who consults with a familiar spirit Deuteronomy 18:10-11. We praise God that He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love Colossians 1:13, and that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.
We also hear your insight about unforgiveness, and this aligns with Scripture. We are commanded to forgive as God also in Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32, and Jesus warns that if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:15. Unforgiveness can give the devil an opportunity, as it is written, do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and do not give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. We encourage you to continue to bring every hurt, every harmful thing done by them and by you, before the Lord in honest confession, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. Forgiveness in Christ is a choice of obedience that releases you from bondage, even when the other person has not repented.
At the same time we want to gently bring biblical balance to the idea of making peace as the key to ending harassment. Scripture says, if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. This shows that peace and reconciliation are not entirely within your control, and that reconciliation and restored relationship are not the same as forgiveness. Forgiveness is commanded and can be done before God even when the other person is absent or unrepentant, but true reconciliation requires repentance and truth from both sides. It is right to obey the Spirit's leading to pursue peace, but we must not be pressured by people, even well meaning people, to force a reconciliation that God is not leading or that would put you back under harassment or manipulation. We are to test the spirits, whether they are of God 1 John 4:1, and to ask God for wisdom, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. The fact that you feel pressured and sense a kind of spiritual blindness or spell over others is important to bring to the Lord, for the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving 2 Corinthians 4:4, and our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12.
We also hear your honest and humble question about whether you might be attributing to demons what is actually human intention, and we honor your desire for truth. Both can be true at once. People are responsible for their choices, and the enemy also schemes to exploit sin and deception, so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes 2 Corinthians 2:11. God is able to give you discernment to see what is of the flesh and what is spiritual influence, without you gaslighting yourself in either direction. Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you Matthew 5:44, and at the same time, be sober and self-controlled, for your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8.
We notice your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and deliverance from demonic oppression. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that God raised him from the dead, confessing him as Lord Romans 10:9, and calling upon his name alone for forgiveness, deliverance, and protection. It is in his name that we resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7, and in his name we are clothed with the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand Ephesians 6:11.
We also strongly affirm your desire to talk with your pastor and elders. Please do pursue that godly counsel quickly and do not walk through this alone. Bring them the full account, including your past involvement in the new age, the specific harassment, your steps toward forgiveness, and the pressure you feel from others. They can pray with you, help you renounce any remaining ties to the new age, help you set wise and safe boundaries, and help you discern when to reach out and when to step back for your protection.
We now pray together for you.
Father, we come before your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank you for drawing this dear one out of darkness and into your light. We thank you for revealing the need to forgive and we ask you to complete that work in the heart, helping to forgive fully as Christ has forgiven, and to release every root of bitterness. Lord, we renounce in Jesus' name every tie to the new age and every foothold given to the enemy, and we ask you to cleanse and seal this life by the blood of Jesus. We put on your armor and we resist the devil, commanding in Jesus' name that every harassing and deceiving spirit must leave and not return. Father, give clear discernment about these people and this harassment, show what is human responsibility and what is demonic influence, and expose any deception or self-deception. Show whether, when, and how to pursue peace with each person, and guard against pressure from others that is not from you. If reconciliation is not possible or not safe, grant peace to accept that while still walking in forgiveness and love. Protect from further harm, surround with your favor and your angels, and let your peace which surpasses all understanding guard the heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. We pray for those who have harassed and for those who are unsaved or deceived by false teaching, that you would open their eyes and bring them to salvation in Jesus. We pray for the pastor and elders, that you would give them wisdom, compassion, and spiritual discernment as they counsel. Lead step by step and let no weapon formed against this child of yours prosper. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our deliverer, amen.
