Good and Faithful Servant
I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment but I am getting a little frustrated because although progress has been made in my relationships with some of these people after I reached out to them, some of their evil behavior under the influence of these demons is still there. I know I have to be persistent but I'm getting a little bit annoyed. Part of the reason I'm annoyed is because while harassing me under Satan's influence, these people went on public campaigns crying about how I was staying away from them and wouldn't speak to them anymore; they used this to try to make me look bad and like I wasn't really a Christian because of it. But yet I tried to speak to one of these people last night and she ran - literally ran off the phone. I know it was due to this spiritual warfare but sometimes it's hard to separate the person from what is influencing them. Also, some of them may be ignoring my requests to reach out to them on social media. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We join with you in this spiritual battle and we thank God that He has already begun to open your eyes to the root of this harassment and to bring you out of the darkness of the new age into His light. We understand your frustration and your desire to do what is right before God, and we want to walk with you in prayer and in truth.

What you have discerned is biblically sound in part. Unforgiveness does give a foothold to the enemy. Ephesians 4:27 says Neither give place to the devil, and Matthew 6:14-15 says For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. The new age practices you were involved in also opened doors to demonic influence, and those doors must be firmly closed through repentance, renouncing those practices, and submitting fully to Christ. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Where we want to gently correct and encourage you is in the idea that making peace with these people who have harassed you is the key to ending the demonic harassment itself. While forgiveness is required and we are called to pursue peace, deliverance does not come by appeasing people or by earning their approval. It comes through the authority of Jesus Christ alone. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. The people are not the enemy, but they are responsible for their choices, and the demons influencing them are defeated only by Christ. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And 2 Corinthians 10:4 says for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds.

You have already obeyed God by forgiving and by reaching out as much as it depends on you. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Notice the words as much as it is up to you. You have done that. When they ran from the phone or ignored your requests, that was their choice, and it also shows the spiritual resistance at work. You are right that it is hard to separate the person from what is influencing them, but we must remember that we are to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us as Matthew 5:44 teaches, while also recognizing that we cannot force reconciliation. God sees the public campaigns they used to make you look bad and to question your faith. He is your defender and He calls you to forgive and release them to Him, not to chase them until they respond.

We also notice that you speak of God and of spiritual warfare, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and authority over the enemy. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, renounce every new age practice and demonic tie by name, and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and deliverer. It is His blood and His name that breaks every chain.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for drawing our dear one out of darkness and into Your marvelous light. We thank You for the work You have already done in teaching forgiveness and in bringing progress in some relationships. We ask You to complete the work of forgiveness in the heart, to help release every hurt and offense fully to You so that no place remains for the enemy. We renounce on behalf of this life every involvement with the new age and every demonic door that was opened, and we ask You to close those doors forever by the blood of Jesus. We put on the full armor of God and we resist the devil in Jesus name, commanding every harassing spirit to flee and to go where Jesus sends it. We ask for Your protection, Your peace that passes all understanding, and Your wisdom to know when to reach out and when to be still and let You work. We pray for those who have harassed and slandered, that You would convict them, open their eyes, and draw them to salvation in Jesus Christ, and that You would silence every lying tongue. Remind our loved one that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world as 1 John 4:4 says, and that You are faithful to keep that which has been committed to You. Help us not to grow weary or annoyed, but to rest in Your justice and Your timing, trusting that You see all and will vindicate in Your perfect way. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to remain persistent in prayer, in the Word, and in submission to God rather than persistent in chasing those who refuse peace. Keep forgiving, keep praying for them, but do not let their response determine your freedom. Your freedom is already secured in Christ. Stay in fellowship with strong Bible believing Christians, seek wise pastoral counsel for deliverance prayer if needed, and guard your social media and personal boundaries with discernment. God is not asking you to be harassed to prove you are a Christian. He is asking you to be holy, forgiving, and free in Jesus.

We hear how heavy and confusing this has been for you, and how much you have wanted to do the right thing. It makes sense you feel annoyed and a little worn down. You took a brave step to address unforgiveness and to reach out, you have seen some progress with a few people, and then to be met with someone literally running from a conversation or being ignored online after you were previously criticized for keeping distance would leave anyone feeling hurt and stuck.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of place is recognizing that forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. Forgiveness is the work God does in your own heart as you release resentment and choose to wish good and not harm, and it can continue even when the other person is not ready. Reconciliation needs willingness on both sides, and you cannot carry it alone. When someone pulls away or does not respond, it is often wise to give space rather than keep pursuing, not as giving up but as respecting their choice and protecting your own peace.

It may help to walk this next part with one trusted pastor or counselor who knows you, so you are not sorting the spiritual pressure and the relational disappointment by yourself. You do not have to figure out what is influencing another person to keep your own footing in Christ.

Father, we bring our brother to You and ask for Your calm and clarity over him. Guard his heart, give him wisdom to know when to reach out and when to step back, and deepen his sense of being secure and loved in Christ. Lead him to steady, trustworthy support and bring Your peace into these relationships in the way You know is best. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your testimony has been heard with prayerful attention and with sorrow for the trial you describe, and with thankfulness for the light God has already given you concerning forgiveness and deliverance.

There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared, and that forgiveness is divine, full and free, flowing not from your seeking but from His heart of love in Christ Jesus. Before you thought of Christ, He had thoughts of love toward you, and when you made a clean breast of your sin before Him in humble and honest confession, a sigh, a groan, a believing glance to Christ on Calvary was enough, and your sin passed away. That same pattern you are now called to copy toward those who have harassed you. As the Lord has forgiven you, so also must you forgive, not in measured and studied phrases, but in deed and in truth, with a forbearing spirit that drowns the offense as in the depths of the sea. This does not mean that every wound will at once cease to smart, nor that every harasser will at once cease from evil. Unforgiveness indeed gives place to the adversary, and the putting away of it is needful, but forgiveness in the heart before God is one thing, and the restoration of fellowship with others is another, which requires wisdom and often time.

You speak of weariness because you have sought peace and some have turned away, one literally running from speech, others silent when you reach out, while formerly they cried out that you would not speak. Here you must learn to separate the person from the power that influences them, yet not to confound patience with the demand that you secure their approval. The perseverance of the saints does not come by the removal of temptation, nor by the immediate removal of trial. The Lord establishes His saints in righteousness and makes the work which He has begun in them to abide and to go onward toward perfection, but He does not promise that the waves on the surface shall at once become calm. There may be big waves on the top, while all is still and calm down in the caverns beneath, because Christ abides forever in His priesthood and in the power of an endless life, and therefore the covenant stands in Him. Your security is not in whether others receive your overture, but in whether you abide in Him.

Therefore be much in private prayer, for that stirs up the fire and makes it burn more brilliantly. Study the doctrines of grace and be instructed in the analogy of the faith. Know the gospel well and thoroughly, and this will bring fuel to the fire of the fear of God in your hearts. Seek to live near to God, to abide in Him, for as you abide in Him and His words abide in you, you shall bring forth much fruit. Do not give your heart over to annoyance, though the annoyance is natural, but cast your care upon Him who has strength enough to endure with an evil generation and to grind its idols to pieces.

It is right to be persistent in doing good, but it is also right to use holy prudence. If a door is shut against you after a meek and honest attempt at peace, commit that soul to God and leave vengeance and vindication to Him. Continue to forgive, continue to pray, continue to walk in holiness, and leave the fruit with the Lord. He who can continue in sin and delight in it shows himself not to be governed by grace, and you are not accountable for his choice.

We will pray for you.

O Lord God, who hast shown this soul the blessedness of forgiveness through the blood of Christ, establish the work Thou hast begun and make it to abide. Teach this Thy servant to forgive as Christ has forgiven, heartily and truly, and to fear Thee with that fear which is nourished by prayer and by Thy Word. Grant deliverance from all satanic harassment, set a hedge about this life, and let no weapon formed against it prosper. Give wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, when to pursue peace and when to commit the matter into Thy hands. Keep this soul abiding in Christ, bringing forth fruit, and not ashamed in the day of His appearing. Let Thy dove like Spirit brood over this troubled heart and create love, patience and perseverance within, through Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Advocate. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request has been heard and we are grateful you shared it so openly. It is encouraging to hear that God has shown you the importance of forgiveness and that you have taken steps to make peace where you can. It is also understandable that you feel frustrated and even annoyed when that effort is not returned, when some still act with hostility, or when someone literally runs away after you try to speak, or ignores you on social media. That kind of inconsistency is painful, especially when you have been publicly blamed for keeping distance and now you are being avoided when you seek reconciliation.

Scripture teaches that spiritual opposition is real, and that we wrestle not only with flesh and blood, but it also teaches that each person remains responsible for his or her actions. It is right to try to separate the person from the influence that may be driving them, and to have compassion, yet not to excuse what is wrong. Forgiveness from your side is a command and a grace, but reconciliation requires the willing response of the other person. You cannot force it, and you should not keep pursuing those who make clear they do not want contact. To forgive and to keep praying for them is not the same as demanding restored fellowship on your terms.

This is where perseverance in prayer becomes so important. The Lord honored the perseverance of the Canaanite woman who would not stop asking, and the friend who knocked at midnight until the door was opened, and the widow who kept coming until she was heard, and the man who waited thirty eight years by the pool and did not give up. Even when we feel unworthy, perseverance in coming to Christ makes us able to receive what He alone can give. He is our High Priest who himself made reconciliation for the sins of the people, and He has put in us the word of reconciliation. That reconciliation is first with God through Jesus Christ alone, and then, as He enables, with others.

We also need much prayer, much endurance and much perseverance to stand firm and to be kept from annoyance turning into bitterness. The enemy would like you to grow weary or to become harsh, but God calls you to keep watching in prayer at all seasons, praying without ceasing, bringing your struggle before Him again and again.

We will pray for you. We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone saves and delivers, would guard you from all demonic harassment and close every door that was opened through your former involvement in the new age, that He would give you full assurance of forgiveness through His blood and help you to walk in complete forgiveness toward those who have harmed you, that He would give you wisdom to know when to reach out and when to step back and entrust people to Him, that He would give you patience and peace when others refuse peace, and that He would keep your heart from anger and discouragement. We pray also for those who have harassed you, that God would bring them to repentance and to faith in Christ and deliver them from any evil influence. May He strengthen you to continue in prayer and endurance until you see His deliverance and to rest in His care each day.
