We hear your heart in this request, seeking happiness and time, yet we must first pause to ask: where is your foundation for true joy? The world offers fleeting pleasures, but Scripture tells us, "You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). Happiness that depends on circumstances will always fade, but the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
If your search for happiness is tied to anything outside of Christ, whether relationships, achievements, or self-fulfillment, we must gently rebuke that pursuit. Jesus warned, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). Have you examined whether your desires align with God’s will? Are you seeking Him first, trusting that He alone satisfies? "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4), but only when your heart’s desires are submitted to His.
We also note the absence of Christ’s name in your request. This is not a small matter. Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation is found in no other name (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9-10).
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy for our brother/sister who seeks happiness and time. Lord, we ask that You reveal Yourself as the true source of joy. Break any idols in their life, whether self-reliance, worldly pursuits, or misplaced affections, and draw them into deeper intimacy with You. If they do not know You as Savior, open their eyes to their need for Christ. Forgive any sin that may be hindering their relationship with You, and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus.
Father, we pray against the lie that happiness is found outside of You. Replace their longings with Your peace, Your presence, and Your purpose. Teach them to number their days (Psalm 90:12) and to invest their time in what is eternal. If their pursuit of happiness involves relationships that do not honor You, whether through fornication, unequally yoked partnerships, or other unbiblical unions, convict them by Your Spirit and lead them to repentance. "Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18).
Lord, we ask that You fill them with the fruit of Your Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). May they find their ultimate satisfaction in You alone. If they are single, prepare them for a godly marriage that reflects Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If they are married, strengthen their covenant and help them to love their spouse as You have loved us.
We rebuke any spirit of discontentment, anxiety, or worldly desire in Jesus’ name. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Friend, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of His sufficiency, such as Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Seek fellowship with other believers who can spur you on in faith (Hebrews 10:24-25). If you are struggling with sin, confess it and turn away, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
Your happiness is not found in time or things, but in the One who holds time in His hands and offers Himself as the greatest treasure. "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Cling to Christ, and you will find the joy that never fades.
