We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up in prayer and seeking God’s deliverance together. Addiction is a fierce enemy, but it is not stronger than the power of Jesus Christ, who came to set the captives free. The Word of God tells us, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18). You are not alone in this struggle, and freedom is possible through Christ.
First, we must address the foundation of your walk with God. You mention asking God for signs and reading the Bible, but we must emphasize that salvation and deliverance come only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life fully to Him, confessing your sins, repenting, and trusting in His sacrifice on the cross, now is the time. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Without this foundation, the battle against addiction will be far harder, for it is only through Christ that we have victory.
Your addiction is not just a habit, it is a spiritual stronghold, and it must be torn down in the name of Jesus. The Bible warns us, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). When we indulge in addiction, we defile the temple of the Holy Spirit and grieve the heart of God. But take heart, Jesus came to break every chain. "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed" (1 Peter 2:24).
You say you ignore obvious signs because of your addiction, and this is a dangerous cycle. Proverbs 28:13 tells us, "He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." God is speaking to you, but the enemy is blinding you to His voice. We must rebuke that deception in Jesus’ name. The signs you seek are already in His Word, repentance, surrender, and walking in obedience. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:8). You cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). The addiction must go.
For your future, we pray that God will reveal His purpose for you, but first, you must be set free. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). But those plans cannot unfold while you are bound by sin. You must take radical steps, cutting off access to temptation, seeking accountability, and filling your mind with Scripture. "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9). Replace the time spent feeding your addiction with prayer, worship, and fellowship with believers who can strengthen you.
We also urge you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a biblical recovery program, or a trusted Christian mentor. "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established" (Proverbs 15:22). You do not have to fight this alone. The body of Christ is here to support you.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is struggling. Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we break the power of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, drawing him into deeper repentance and surrender. Father, we pray for a hunger and thirst for righteousness to consume him (Matthew 5:6), that he would no longer be satisfied with the temporary pleasures of sin but would crave the presence of God. Give him strength to resist temptation, and when he falls, remind him of Your grace and lift him back up. Surround him with godly influences who will speak truth into his life and hold him accountable. Lord, we ask that You would heal his mind, body, and spirit, restoring what the enemy has stolen. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ (Romans 8:37), and we pray that You would reveal Your purpose for his future. May he walk in freedom, holiness, and the fullness of Your calling. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Do not lose hope, dear brother. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Jesus from the dead, and transformed the apostle Paul from a persecutor to a preacher is able to set you free. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Take one step at a time, leaning on Him, and He will lead you into victory.
