Guide me thought my addiction and future

Steyreurmor

Disciple of Prayer
I am a ### year old kid struggling with addiction. I keep falling and I ask god frequently for signs of what to do and what I should pursue for my future. I try to read the Bible but I know I can do more. I frequently ignore obvious signs because of my addiction and wish I could stop. I’m scared for my future and if I’ll ever stop my addiction.

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up in prayer and seeking God’s deliverance together. Addiction is a fierce enemy, but it is not stronger than the power of Jesus Christ, who came to set the captives free. The Word of God tells us, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18). You are not alone in this struggle, and freedom is possible through Christ.

First, we must address the foundation of your walk with God. You mention asking God for signs and reading the Bible, but we must emphasize that salvation and deliverance come only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life fully to Him, confessing your sins, repenting, and trusting in His sacrifice on the cross, now is the time. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Without this foundation, the battle against addiction will be far harder, for it is only through Christ that we have victory.

Your addiction is not just a habit, it is a spiritual stronghold, and it must be torn down in the name of Jesus. The Bible warns us, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). When we indulge in addiction, we defile the temple of the Holy Spirit and grieve the heart of God. But take heart, Jesus came to break every chain. "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed" (1 Peter 2:24).

You say you ignore obvious signs because of your addiction, and this is a dangerous cycle. Proverbs 28:13 tells us, "He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." God is speaking to you, but the enemy is blinding you to His voice. We must rebuke that deception in Jesus’ name. The signs you seek are already in His Word, repentance, surrender, and walking in obedience. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:8). You cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). The addiction must go.

For your future, we pray that God will reveal His purpose for you, but first, you must be set free. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). But those plans cannot unfold while you are bound by sin. You must take radical steps, cutting off access to temptation, seeking accountability, and filling your mind with Scripture. "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9). Replace the time spent feeding your addiction with prayer, worship, and fellowship with believers who can strengthen you.

We also urge you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a biblical recovery program, or a trusted Christian mentor. "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established" (Proverbs 15:22). You do not have to fight this alone. The body of Christ is here to support you.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is struggling. Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we break the power of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, drawing him into deeper repentance and surrender. Father, we pray for a hunger and thirst for righteousness to consume him (Matthew 5:6), that he would no longer be satisfied with the temporary pleasures of sin but would crave the presence of God. Give him strength to resist temptation, and when he falls, remind him of Your grace and lift him back up. Surround him with godly influences who will speak truth into his life and hold him accountable. Lord, we ask that You would heal his mind, body, and spirit, restoring what the enemy has stolen. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ (Romans 8:37), and we pray that You would reveal Your purpose for his future. May he walk in freedom, holiness, and the fullness of Your calling. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Do not lose hope, dear brother. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Jesus from the dead, and transformed the apostle Paul from a persecutor to a preacher is able to set you free. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Take one step at a time, leaning on Him, and He will lead you into victory.

May Lord Yeshua and heavenly Father be with you through this to help you resist and fight back. Here are practical steps to fighting addiction.

1. Keep a journal on your phone and talk about your struggles anf goals and prioties.

2. Get away from friends and places that drag you back into old habits.

3. Pray regular on the prayer wall for others. This requires that you stop in your daily routine and sit with your prayerwall open and wait patiently for the ability to pray and talk to God to emerge.

4. Eat cleaner food. Anticodiant rich fruit. Avocado. Nuts and seeds. Wild caught fish. Vegetables.

5. I will give you a really great audio bible that makes listening to the bible exciting and fun. Only set aside time for the Lord each day to listen into this free download. Its very awesome with sound effects and voice acting. Helping you get in the spirit to worship and submit to the Lord is exactly what you need to defend yourself from this addiction. May God bkess you snd keep you and help you. In all praise worship and glory to his name. The name of Yeshua and our Father. All glory and honor and praise to your name Father. That we might have the love and humility required to submit to you and be faithful stewards of your word and of your church. Lord Yeshuas name. Amen.

We hear how hard you've been fighting this, and the fear underneath your words is real, we don't want to brush past that. Addiction has a way of making you feel like you're watching yourself from a distance, knowing what you ought to do but unable to follow through. That gap between what you want and what you do is exhausting, and you've been honest about it in a way that takes courage.

The patterns you're describing, seeing the signs, wanting to stop, then falling again, aren't just weak willpower. Addiction operates at a deeper level, and one of its hallmarks is that it makes people minimize what's happening and try to handle it alone. You're at an age where asking for help can feel like admitting defeat, but the opposite is true: bringing this into the light with someone you trust is one of the most strategic things you can do right now.

Is there one mature Christian in your life you could be completely honest with this week? Not someone who will just tell you to pray harder, but someone who will walk with you, help you spot the patterns you keep missing, and hold you accountable with grace. You were not made to fight this in isolation.

We're praying for you, not just for the addiction to loosen its grip, but for you to see that your future isn't defined by this struggle.

Lord Jesus, this young man has been fighting so long and feels the weight of it. Give him the courage to speak his struggle out loud to someone who can help. Put the right person in his path, and let him find not shame but steady support when he takes that step. We ask for genuine hope to take root where fear has been growing. In your name we pray, Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father grant healing and strength to this requestor. Bless them with good physicians and meds if necessary. Lead him my Lord on the right path and grant him your peace. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You speak of your addiction and your fear for the future, and the two are woven together like tangled threads. The addiction feeds the fear, and the fear gives strength to the addiction. You cry out for signs from God, yet you confess you ignore the very signs He gives. This is the bondage of sin, it makes a man deaf to the voice he longs to hear and blind to the light he prays to see. And you say, "I wish I could stop," as if wishing were a weapon strong enough to break chains. It is not. The will of man, unaided, is a broken reed. You have learned this by bitter experience, falling again and again.

Consider the worm Jacob, a poor, trembling, worthless thing, easily crushed underfoot. Yet to that worm the Lord said, "Fear not; I will help thee." Why should a worm fear, when Omnipotence is its ally? Your weakness is not a barrier to divine help; it is the very platform upon which divine strength delights to build. But mark this well: the command is absolute. "Fear not," says the Lord, not "Fear only a little," nor "Fear only on certain days." It is a sweeping, unqualified precept. To persist in fear is disobedience, and fear itself is weakening. It drains the soul of courage, it dishonors God by doubting His power, and it keeps the eye fixed on the storm rather than on Him who walks upon the waves. Your addiction has bred a terror of tomorrow, and that terror leaves you too paralyzed to fight today. The fear of never stopping has become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You ask for guidance for your future, and the psalmist gives the answer: "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory." The path is not found by straining after signs, but by submitting to principles. The man who takes God for his guide learns to avoid everything that is evil, not with a passing glance, but with a settled determination. When fear is banished, the mental balance is restored, and a man can judge which is the right road. Your addiction has clouded your judgment, and haste has only made the mischief worse. You wish for a sudden deliverance, a lightning-flash transformation. But the Lord often leads His children step by step, not leaping over the precipice but walking the long, steady way of daily trust. Lay aside the obstinacy that resolves to chart its own course even while praying for direction. Bow in submission, and guidance will come, not always in signs, but in the quiet inclining of the heart toward what is pure and good.

Above all, fix your eye upon Christ. The saints learn to overcome evil, and then they learn a deeper art still, to overcome Him who is Goodness itself, by the glance of faith that looks to Jesus for all things. He is no distant figure of history; He is a familiar Friend, alive forevermore. When the appetite for sin rises, look to Him. When despair whispers that you shall never be free, look to Him. The eyes of the soul have great overcoming power when they are fixed upon the Savior. He has overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil, shall He not overcome your addiction also? Let your glance be not a fleeting one, but the steady gaze of one who longs for His appearing.

Remember, too, that forgiveness breeds a holy fear. You dread that your sins are too many, your falls too frequent. But the forgiving love of God, when truly grasped, kindles a deep devotion, a consecrated hatred of the sin that pierced the Lord. It is not the slave's fear of punishment, but the child's awe of a Father's mercy that becomes the strongest motive for obedience. Flee to Him again, even now, in penitence. Confess that you have ignored His signs, squandered His warnings. He is faithful and just to forgive, and that very forgiveness will arm you for the battle ahead.

What of the future? Hope for it. The past may have been a wilderness of failure, but the promise stands: "I will help thee." Faith may be stronger tomorrow than it has ever been today. Keep to the simplicity of your first trust in Christ. Cultivate a holy fear that makes you cautious with every step, and let that fear drive you not to despair, but to the cross. The Lord who has begun a good work in you will complete it. Fear not, therefore. You are a poor worm, but the Lord of hosts is your Redeemer. Let that be enough.
