Beloved of All
Your heart to pray according to Scripture is encouraging, and I join you in lifting these requests before the Lord.
God calls us to pray for all who are in authority, for kings and all who govern, so that we may lead quiet and peaceable lives in godliness and reverence. We thank God that He establishes authority and we ask Him to give those who lead true wisdom. Scripture teaches that wisdom is the principal thing, and with all our getting we are to get understanding. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord. There is a wisdom of this world that is earthly and leads to envy and strife, and there is a wisdom from above that is pure and peaceable and produces the fruit of the Spirit. We pray that those in authority would seek the wisdom from above rather than the wisdom of this world which comes to nothing. That heavenly wisdom is better than rubies and better than riches, it preserves and keeps those who love it, and it gives life. We ask that God would guard their lips, give them the tongue of the wise, surround them with godly counsel, and lead them to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Him, so that their leadership would promote righteousness and unity rather than bitterness and rivalry.
We also agree with you for unity among nations. God is blessed when a people acknowledge Him at the center of their national life, and when His people who are called by His name humble themselves and pray and seek His face, He hears. We ask Him to give the nations as an inheritance to His Son and to frustrate the plans of the enemy to divide and destroy. There is a spiritual battle behind what we see, and we pray for heavenly protection and discernment for leaders and for people everywhere, that evil would be restrained, that falsehood would be silenced, and that elections and decisions would be marked by integrity. From the first day you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before God, your words are heard.
For your own region we pray as you have asked, that you would seek the welfare of the place where God has put you and pray to the Lord on its behalf. We ask the Holy Spirit to convict neighbors, students, teachers, workers, parents, pastors, law enforcement and local leaders of sin and righteousness and judgment to come, and that the Father would draw them to Jesus. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by grace through faith as a gift of God, as people hear the Word and believe. We pray for a wall of fire around your community, that God would keep His people from evil and shelter them under His protection.
For provision we thank God for daily bread and ask Him to grant what is needed with contentment and godliness. He is able to restore the years that have been lost and to give the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy and peace, and a cheerful heart. Instead of shame He gives a double portion and everlasting joy to those who return to Him, for when He has torn He will heal, and when He has struck He will bind up.
We remember with you those in chains and the persecuted church, asking for relief, for boldness to proclaim Christ, and for the peace of Jerusalem and for all the descendants of Abraham. We pray that the gospel would go forth and many would be saved.
May our prayers be aligned with His will, that His kingdom would come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We have access to the Father only through Jesus, and it is in His name that we pray and are saved. We thank God that He hears, and we trust Him to answer according to His perfect wisdom and love.
