Hearing of your broken heart and deep sadness, we have prayed for you and we continue to hold you before the Lord.
Scripture says the Lord is near to those who are of a broken heart and saves those who have a crushed spirit. That nearness is not distant or formal. He is the God of all comfort who stands by His people in the darkest hours, in affliction and sorrow, to strengthen and encourage and speak comfort when no one else can fully understand. If you are walking through a hard place and a dark night, He will be near to comfort you as you pour out your grief and pain honestly before Him.
God does not turn away from a broken and contrite heart. He is not looking for outward words when the heart is not in them. What He desires is a heart that is open and humble before Him. You can pray as David prayed, ask Him to search you and know your heart, to see what is there and to do His healing work within. The heart can be deceitful and weak, and out of it flow the issues of life, so keep bringing your heart to Him with all diligence and let Him guard and tend it. He has promised to do an inward work, to give a new heart that loves Him and desires to please Him, and to work in you both to will and to do what pleases Him. As He places His desires within you, you will find your delight becoming to do His will.
The Scriptures themselves are given to bring patience and comfort so that you may have hope. The God who is patient and the God who comforts will use His Word to sustain you. He is patient in working out His purposes, and He comforts those who mourn so that they in turn, having been comforted by Him, can comfort others. Even sorrow has a purpose in His hands. There is a time when sorrow is better than laughter, for by sadness the heart is made better, and the wise heart learns in the house of mourning what cannot be learned elsewhere.
We pray that the Lord will draw very close to you now, that you will sense Him standing by you, lifting you and giving you peace that goes beyond understanding deep within your heart. We pray He will give you comfort from His Word, patience for each day, and hope for what is ahead, and that He will heal your broken heart and renew your spirit as you seek Him with your whole heart.
