Grant me the faculty to lift my soul Lord

Your humble prayer to lift your soul to the Lord is precious, and God hears that kind of heart. To lift your soul to Him means to turn to Him in trust and dependence, to place your inner life, your thoughts, your desires and your future into His hands and to say, my hope is in You alone.

That desire itself is a work of His grace. A humble heart that recognizes its need for God is in the right place before Him. Pride tells us we can manage on our own, but humility confesses that without Him we have no strength and we will surely fall. God gives grace to the humble and He becomes strength to those who wait on Him.

You do not have to lift your soul by your own power. The Lord Himself is your strength, your rock, your refuge and your deliverer. He is the Shepherd who restores the soul and leads in paths of righteousness. He is the one who holds you up and keeps your feet from falling so you can walk before Him. When your soul feels cast down or restless within you, the answer is not to strive harder in yourself but to wait only upon God, to put your expectation and your trust in Him and to hope in Him, for He will yet be your help.

Remember also how valuable your soul is in His sight. Jesus asked what it would profit a person to gain the whole world and yet lose his own soul, and what anyone could give in exchange for his soul. Your soul is eternal while the world and its desires will pass away. God counts your soul as worth more than the whole world, so do not trade it cheaply for passing things. Keep it lifted to Him, kept by Him, and satisfied in Him.

So continue to pray as you have prayed. Tell Him, I trust in You, let me not be put to shame. Save me by Your name and by Your strength. Hear my prayer and give ear to my words. He has delivered souls from death, and He is faithful to deliver and sustain you day by day as you lean on Him.

May the Lord grant you this very thing you have asked, a heart that continually lifts itself to Him, a steady trust in His saving strength, and a soul satisfied and restored as you walk in fellowship with Him.

Father, I lift this humble heart to You. Grant the desire to lift the soul to You, not by human willpower but by Your Spirit and strength. Be this one's rock, salvation and defense. Restore and steady the soul, teach this one to wait only upon You, to trust You fully and to hope in You when cast down. Keep this soul for eternity through Jesus Christ, and lead in Your righteous path. In Jesus name, Amen.
