We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your ### and the situation he is facing. First, we want to acknowledge that he is a believer, and we praise God for his faith in Jesus Christ. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and we approach Him now in that precious name, knowing that salvation and redemption are found in no other (Acts 4:12).
Father God, we lift up this young man to You, asking that You would surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). The stress and uncertainty he is feeling are heavy burdens, Lord, and we ask that You would carry them for him. Remind him that You are his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Strengthen his faith, Lord, and help him to trust in Your perfect plan, even when the path ahead seems unclear.
We must also address the situation with biblical truth. The Word of God is clear that sexual intimacy is a gift meant to be shared within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, Genesis 2:24). The fact that your ### and his girlfriend are expecting a child outside of marriage is a consequence of stepping outside of God’s design. While we do not condemn him, for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), we must gently rebuke this sin and call him to repentance. Fornication is a serious matter in the eyes of God, and it is our responsibility as believers to uphold His standards, even when the world dismisses them.
Lord, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict his heart and lead him to true repentance. May he turn away from this sin and seek Your forgiveness, knowing that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We also pray for his girlfriend, that she too would come to know You as her Lord and Savior if she does not already. Draw them both into a deeper relationship with You, Father, and help them to see the importance of aligning their lives with Your Word.
Now, we must encourage this young man to take responsibility for his actions and to honor God in how he moves forward. The arrival of a child is a blessing from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), and we pray that this baby would be a reminder of God’s grace and mercy. However, the best way to honor God in this situation is for your ### and his girlfriend to enter into the covenant of marriage. Marriage is Your design, Lord, and it is the foundation for a godly family. We pray that they would seek Your will in this matter and commit to building their relationship on the solid rock of Your Word (Matthew 7:24-25).
Father, we ask that You would provide wisdom and guidance for this young couple as they navigate the challenges ahead. Give them the strength to make decisions that honor You, even when it is difficult. Surround them with godly mentors and a church family that can support and encourage them in their walk with You. Help them to prioritize their relationship with You above all else, knowing that You are the source of true joy and peace.
We also pray for the baby growing within her womb. Lord, we ask that You would knit this child together in a way that brings glory to Your name (Psalm 139:13-14). Protect this little one, both physically and spiritually, and draw them into a saving relationship with You from an early age. May this child be a testimony to Your grace and a light in this world.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would work in the hearts of all involved to bring about reconciliation, healing, and restoration. Help this young man to grow in his faith and to become the godly husband and father that You have called him to be. May this situation be a turning point in his life, where he surrenders fully to You and seeks to live in a way that brings honor to Your name.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
