There's this fanily I know and deal with who ,they have a bad habit a work of the flesh ,theyre like 2 faced ,pretend to be my friends but at the same time make little "cracks about me,or even if I have a problem thats not my doing ,they knock "me foe it.So then I have the problem, plus them poking me too.Isnt gossip a sin?"The power of life and death is in the tongue".And its not an occasional slip up this is a pattern a lifestyle with them .

We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we stand with you in bringing this matter before the Lord. Gossip is indeed a sin, and Scripture is clear about its destructive nature. The tongue, though small, has the power to build up or tear down, and when used for gossip, it becomes a weapon of division and hurt. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit." The words of this family are bearing bitter fruit in your life, and it is not pleasing to God.

James 3:5-6 warns, "So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest! The tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna." Their words are not only hurting you but are also grieving the Holy Spirit. We must address this sin with truth and love, for their sake and yours.

First, we rebuke the spirit of gossip and deception in the name of Jesus. We declare that their tongues will no longer be used as instruments of harm but will be tamed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists seven things that the Lord hates, and among them are "a lying tongue," "a false witness who utters lies," and "one who sows discord among brothers." Their behavior aligns with what God despises, and we pray that their hearts would be convicted by the Holy Spirit to turn from this sin.

We also encourage you to guard your heart, as Proverbs 4:23 instructs, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Do not allow bitterness or resentment to take root, for that would only give the enemy a foothold in your life. Instead, we pray that you would respond with grace and wisdom. Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you." This is not easy, but it is the path of Christlikeness.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names. We lift up this situation to You, Lord, and we ask for Your intervention. We rebuke the spirit of gossip, deception, and two-faced behavior that has taken root in this family. We declare that their tongues will be loosed from the enemy’s grip and will instead be used to speak life, truth, and encouragement.

Father, we ask that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to the harm they are causing. Convict them by Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and lead them to repentance. Help them to see the error of their ways and to turn from this sin, for their own sake and for the sake of those they are hurting.

We also pray for Your protection over the one who submitted this request. Guard their heart, Lord, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to respond to this family with grace and wisdom, and give them the strength to love as You have loved us. Remind them that vengeance belongs to You, and that You will repay (Romans 12:19).

Father, we ask that You would bring healing to this situation. Restore what has been broken, and mend the relationships that have been damaged by these words. Let Your love and truth prevail, and may this family come to know You more deeply through this trial.

We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your justice and Your mercy, and we ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

In addition to prayer, we encourage you to seek godly counsel if this situation continues to weigh heavily on you. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Surround yourself with believers who can offer wisdom and support as you navigate this challenge.

Lastly, remember that Jesus is our ultimate example of how to respond to those who mistreat us. He endured far worse than gossip and slander, yet He did not retaliate. Instead, He entrusted Himself to the Father, who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23). You are not alone in this, and God sees every hurtful word that has been spoken against you. Trust in Him to bring justice and restoration in His perfect timing.

It wears a person down to face a problem and then feel picked at by the very people who ought to be safe. You are carrying the weight of the original difficulty, and on top of that, their little cracks keep reopening the wound. That pattern, acting friendly while slipping in the digs, can make you question your own perception, and it honestly just stings. We are sorry you are dealing with that.

Yes, gossip and a habit of tearing others down are serious matters, and you are right to name it. But for tonight, we want to focus on your heart and sanity in the middle of it. You cannot control what they say, but you can decide how much access they have to you and your story. Sometimes the healthiest next step with a chronic pattern like this is to quietly adjust boundaries. Share less personal information with them. When they make a crack, give yourself permission to not engage, a simple, calm “I see it differently” or even a non-committal nod can shut down the back-and-forth without a fight. You are not being unkind; you are being wise, guarding your own peace.

You also have a decision to make before God about what you will carry inside. Forgiving does not mean pretending they are safe or letting them keep hurting you. It is laying down the heavy, exhausting demand for them to make it right, and handing that weight over to the One who judges justly. That step is for your freedom, not their approval. It may take time and need to be renewed daily, and that is okay. We are just pointing to the path, not rushing you down it.

Would you join us as we pray?
Lord Jesus, You see the hurt these words have caused, and You see the double load this has been. Bring steady peace to this heart, and give clear wisdom about when to speak, when to step back, and what to share. Protect this one from the sting of careless tongues, and where forgiveness is needed for real freedom, gently do that work. We ask this in Your name. Amen.

How grievous a wound the tongue can give, for it is set on fire of hell! You have well cited that the power of life and death is in the tongue, and this family proves it by their two-edged speech, sweet as honey to your face, yet sharp as a serpent's tooth behind your back. Such duplicity is indeed a work of the flesh, a foul betrayal of that friendship which ought to sweeten our pilgrimage. Consider our blessed Master: He who was the Man of Sorrows took the lion’s share of all the pains of poverty and the reproach of slander, and one of His own familiar friends, who shared His bread, lifted up his heel against Him. He endured the whispered crack and the secret sneer without reviling in return. Shall the servant be above his Lord?

Yet beware, lest your own wounded spirit provoke your tongue to sin. You cannot call back the words which now cause you to bite your tongue with regret. How often our glib tongue is checked when we remember we are ever in the sight of God, and how many a wild imprecation would be silenced if we but paused to pray. Instead of uttering hot words against these offenders, breathe a brief, silent prayer to heaven, committing your cause to Him who judges righteously. For if slander is the rod under which you are to smart, many of us have felt it before you, and you need not complain as if some strange thing had happened. Bow your head, therefore, and let the Lord appoint you care or calumny, for He knows best.

Remember, too, the angelic protection promised to all who walk in the King’s highway of obedience. If you are faithful and keep in His ways, no dart of the tongue shall ultimately harm you; the great shield of faith shall quench each fiery missile. Labor even for the good of these who despitefully use you, bearing up the feeble ones in love, lest you trip over their stumbling-blocks into the ditch of bitterness. And as you go forward, let not these blessed secrets of grace be wrapped only in your heart; rather, let your tongue be tuned to tell of the good news of salvation, that even your enemies might taste and see that the Lord is good. So may you hope to close your earthly pilgrimage with this upon your tongue: not a murmur, but a hallelujah, joining at last the chorus of the skies.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The tongue indeed holds the power of life and death, and what you describe is not a mere slip but a settled practice, a work of the flesh that defiles those who speak and wounds those who hear. When they pretend friendship yet make their little cracks, when they knock you down while you already suffer, they are handling filth and then daring to lay hold of the knees of God with that same tongue. For the tongue is the hand of them that pray, and by it we grasp the feet of the Almighty. If a man had dung on his hands, would he dare to pray? By no means. Yet these carry about on their tongue the deadly filth of reviling, of two-faced speech, and think nothing of it. But he that reviles his brother reviles God, and he that honors his brother honors God.

Do not be surprised that this is a pattern, a lifestyle with them. The love of being superior, the craving to exalt oneself by the belittling of another, this is a grievous tyrant no less than the love of money. It makes the soul drunk, so that a person is not so beside himself through wine as through this passion. And what did our Master teach? That the matter was not of weakness but of a secret dispensation when He was betrayed with a kiss. Even so, these kiss you with friendly words and then strike with their cracks. Oh, what depravity the soul receives when it makes a show of affection only to wound.

Now for your part, you ask if gossip is sin. It is, and a serious one, for by your words you shall be justified and by your words you shall be condemned. Yet take care that their sin does not become a snare to your own soul. What if you have been overtaken? Cleanse yourself. Weep, groan, give alms, apologize if you have returned evil for evil. Wipe clean your tongue, lest you provoke God more grievously. For God gave us the tongue not to revile, but to sing hymns, to speak things that give grace to the hearers, things for edification, things for profit. Train your own tongue therefore to speak good words, and refrain it from evil. As for them, pray that they may be freed from this madness, and keep yourself from following the assemblies of the wicked. When the pattern is this entrenched, there is no small profit in understanding whence it comes, that you might be on your guard. If they will not hear, then do not let their filth defile your own hands when you draw near to God. Guard your own door.

You know what makes a hit really hurt? It's not always the size of the blow. A quarterback can get flattened by a 275-pound tackle and bounce right back up, because he saw it coming. He relaxed, he rolled with it, his body absorbed the force. What really injures him is the blindside shot: the hit he never saw, the one that caught him totally off guard. When you know someone's pattern, when you've seen the two faces and you've heard the little cracks before, some of that shock is already taken away. It still stings, but you're no longer surprised by it. You can learn to give with the blow instead of letting it shatter you.

What you're describing isn't just an occasional slip of the tongue. A lifestyle of gossip and cutting remarks comes from a deeper place, and yes, Scripture is clear: the tongue holds the power of life and death. Sins of the tongue wound both the one speaking and the one on the receiving end. When people use their words to knock you down, especially while pretending to be friends, their wickedness does hurt others. Your problem doesn't become lighter because they pile on; it feels heavier. That's real, and that's wrong of them.

But here's something to hold onto when the hurt keeps coming from the same direction. God often uses the very things meant to break us to actually build something stronger in us. Persecution and pressure have a strange way of separating wheat from chaff. They push us to make our stand, and in that process, our faith can grow in ways comfort never produces. When the early believers faced heavy mistreatment, they didn't shrivel up; their love for one another deepened, and the gospel spread further than anyone expected. God's hand was in the pressure, not to crush them, but to move them into what He had next.

That doesn't mean the pain isn't real. The greatest hurt often comes when we don't see it coming, when someone we trusted turns around and joins the crowd mocking us. Fear can grip our heart when we look at the venom in people's words. But think about what drove Paul. He had once been the one persecuting, dragging people off, forcing believers to blaspheme. Later, it haunted him. He called himself the least because of it. But when he was on the receiving end, stoned and left for dead, he got back up and kept going. What kept him was not that the blows didn't hurt; it was that he had a bigger mission and a bigger love.

You cannot control their tongues, but you can decide what captures your attention more: their sin or the God who gives songs in the night. Their gossip reveals what is in their hearts; your response reveals what is in yours. True fear of the Lord is not being afraid He's waiting to hurt you. It's being afraid you might hurt Him by how you react. When you choose not to repay insult for insult, you are not being weak; you are caring more about grieving His heart than about getting even.

So what do you do with the daily jabs? You steady yourself on what is true. You learn to roll with the blow because you knew it was coming, and you refuse to let it knock out your love or your peace. You recognize that the real enemy is not these people but the spiritual darkness that wants to use offense to isolate and embitter you. You bring your hurt to God and you keep going. Your righteousness may well profit others, even those who now mock you, and your steadiness under fire will stand as a witness. Leave the outcome with Him; judgment belongs to the Lord, and when He sets things right, it will be a manifest token of His righteousness. Your part is to walk in such a way that you can say honestly, "I have wronged no one in return."

We want to thank you for trusting us with your prayer request and allowing us to stand in agreement with you before the Lord. It is never easy to deal with hurtful words or the pain that comes from those who speak with two faces—pretending friendship while tearing you down. We have lifted you up, asking God to guard your heart and give you wisdom in how to respond. The Bible is clear that gossip is a sin, and the tongue can indeed bring life or death. We have prayed that God would convict their hearts, soften their words, and break the cycle of this harmful pattern.

If the Lord has already worked in this situation—whether by changing their hearts, giving you peace, or revealing His truth in a powerful way—we would love to hear your praise report! Your testimony could encourage others who are facing similar struggles. But if the weight of this still feels heavy, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to keep praying with you, asking God to heal the wounds caused by their words and to fill you with His love and strength.

May the Lord continue to draw near to you as you seek Him, reminding you of your worth in Christ and shielding you from the arrows of unkind speech. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, trusting that He is at work even when we cannot see it.
